I just bought a logitech wheel to enjoy this game and......what?
new patch? nice...let's download...

Starting the game...what? where is my love? where is the XR GT Turbo?
DAMNNNN!!!

Ok, patch is fine and a little bit more realistic but, damn a lot of people play with xr gt turbo, a lot of people drift for fun with it and a lot of people like me spent some months for nice car setup.
And now it's totally gone!!

Now who will buy a license trying only the city-car? ROFL

Patch is ok but please we need the XR GT Turbo

ps.
sorry for my bad bad english and Merry Xmas all!

You tried the XRT, you even bought a new Logitech wheel. How about buying some software to use with it? May I suggest Live For Speed? As you already know, the XRT is a great car for drifting.

:ices_rofl
+1 tho
Quote from minage :I just bought a logitech wheel to enjoy this game and......

let me remind you, YOU DON'T HAVE THE GAME
if you would have a logical explanation as if "WHY you can spend money on Logi products and no money to spend on the game to go with them" - please do tell
Quote from minage :you're right but not everyone have money to buy it whenever they want.

But now i can't play at all!
Have to wait to buy a license...who know when it will be
Sure I'll buy it but ufff i can't play now...

Have to play with old patch

Dude, you just bought a wheel. For the money you spend on that, you could have bought 2 licenses.
Quote from minage :2 licenses and no wheel.
c'mon that doesn't make any sense.

Nevermind...when i can i'll buy the license
now i'll play old version or other games...

I bought LFS months before I got a wheel!
And weirdly at first one of the things that made me bought it was the great "other controllers" support of this game!
It's so funny to see people buying a wheel, but when it gets to the point of coughing up some pounds for a license the "please feel sorry for me and put the xrt back in cause I don't have the money for it" attitude kicks in.
The attitude makes me sick.

At least 90% of the people in here whining that they don't have the money for it, simply don't WANT to pay or set their priorities different.

89.466% of all statistics are made up on the spot
But squidhead's point is pivotal, and very telling..
Quote from squidhead :let me remind you, YOU DON'T HAVE THE GAME

I think it's testimony to the generosity of the demo over the years that has led to the faulty impression among demo racers that they have the game when they don't. There's been enough content in the demo to satisfy an entire market, without any need to support the product in the proper way (i.e. financially).

The "loss" of the XRT, to demo racers, is meeting resistance because it's such a significant paradigm shift, to both lose the XRT and also realise/remember that they don't have a claim to Live For Speed yet. They haven't invested in it in any way to benefit the product they love to use.

There is a business going on here, where the development of the game they love so much actually needs (NEEDS!!!!) a financial investment from them.

It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.. but it's even better still to pay £24 to have loved, lost, and then loved again.
^ best statement made on the forum ever.
Thanks! I'll be here all week.. I also do childrens' parties, stag nights..

@ Minage , you should be happy that there is a playable demo for you guys without a licence . I also played without a wheel for like 3 months . Nothing against you but come on , what world do you guys live in ?
I still find it hard to see the simulation "realism" in acting like you have a clutch by lifting on the throttle, when you don´t have a clutch pedal or don´t use the one you have. Therefore I find it ok, to let people drive without the "clutch adaption" on some servers.

Personally it pissed me off sometimes, when I drive a race and suddenly I´m stuck in a gear (not because of overheating the clutch) and if I change gear down, because it can´t go up and I AM lifting the foot completely from the throttle), the engine dies. I use DFP, so why???

My guess: Hardware is still uncrackable...

not true. i cracked my momo so now the sequential shifter can move all over the place and i can *pretend*. mmm, warm fuzzy feelings of psuedo-shifting.

just wish redrum would Tweak my mouse...

Quote from minage :you're right but not everyone have money to buy it whenever they want.

Its kinda funny. You just bought an expensive steering wheel to enjoy a demo, but can't afford £24? Or even £12 for S1 where you get XRT and loads of other cars and tracks.

Well, I don't feel bad for you.
Enjoy the demo meanwhile and save some money.
When i did buy the LFS S2 licens, i payed for a game without a clutch that can be overheted, if it was like this when i first played LFS shouldnt i buy it... SO THIS IS NOT WHAT I PAY'D FOR.
So im asking you, cant you do something, so we who wanna play the Q patch, on the internet, whit servers. And thos who wanna play the Y patch on the internet with server can do that to?

Cause i dont gonna play this game with this patch! and if so i want the money, I payed to play THE Q PATCH back...
Quote from J. andersson :I payed to play THE Q PATCH back...

Then feel free to play the Q patch until your arms fall off. Nothing's preventing you. Furthermore you paid for a program with the following in it's EULA:
Quote from Live for Speed End-user license agreement :1.4 You must be aware that we can alter any aspect of LFS as we see fit. Improvements, fixes and/or changes made to the game, are to be expected.

So basically, you don't want to let go of the gas when you shift gears? Are you that lazy?
Quote from shiny_red_cobra :So basically, you don't want to let go of the gas when you shift gears? Are you that lazy?

Yeah! Why should He have to be the only one to lift off the gas when shifting!?!

... oh wait... we all do
honestly, i just have to jump into this...

IMO, we should have an option to continue auto throttle cut and blip.
you see, i dont have hundreds of dollars to spend on a racing wheel with pedals (and a clutch).
i am making due with a logitec dualshock controller and was doing just fine until Y.
now, with auto clutch turned off, changing gears is a half second ballet of button pushing... obviously, this eats at my lap times and is very frustrating.

i tried turning autoclutch on, but i have to wait even longer for the clutch to "engage" otherwise, when i give it gas, it "slips into gear" and overly heats up the clutch.

i find myself avoiding the more powerful cars for this reason.
the FOX is only barely drivable, the new FBM is drivable, but the BF1 and
FO8 are hopeless.

i have to change all my setups to make first gear extremely low in order to get moving.

i agree that simulation is a good thing, but we have to remember that the point of a game is to have fun and do things that cannot be done in real life.
for those that want clutch wear on, go for it, but for the rest of us, there should be a patch or something that either a) makes the clutch more durable, or b) gives back auto throttle cut

this is just my opinion
You could get wheel under 30 I think and it would be just fine, you don't need clutch pedal and auto clutch is just enough quick, it takes that much time to drive with shifter and clutch anyway so you won't be slower than guys with expensive wheels because of that, other reasons then might make that to be true.

My take is that you should be able to play with gamepad or what ever, but it should be really slower than playing with wheel, it should be only feature that allows to preview what game (or sim if you prefer) is alike and pursue person to get wheel and then licence, that is what I think
Some people really do need to read AND understand more about what they are buying before they part with any money.

I use a DFP with no clutch pedal and auto clutch (always have), it works just fine, no different than before. Wheels don't cost hundreds of $ either, I don't know where people get this idea from, my first wheel (logitech wingman, yellow) cost me less than £15 from ebay and was great for nearly 2 years.

LFS will never be spilt in different modes for different people.
Quote from J. andersson :When i did buy the LFS S2 licens, i payed for a game without a clutch that can be overheted, if it was like this when i first played LFS shouldnt i buy it... SO THIS IS NOT WHAT I PAY'D FOR.

You paid for a license to play a sim that is in constant development and not at the end of it's development cycle. This is EXACTLY what you paid for.

The major patches make LFS incompatible with earlier versions so this is not possible.

Fine, don't play. But you can't ask for your money back for a product which has already been delivered to you just because you didn't bother to read the license agreement (and the license agreement is very clear and very short, unlike with other programs).
Holy XXXX... I played rf more then LFS this week , someone please shoot me in the FACE!

Before I get bashed, I'm not saying I don't like it, ofcourse it is going by "LFS LAW" which is to make the game as real to life as possible but when your simulating something that isn't even there to begin with( no clutch pedal here ) just makes life kinda fake. "Don't worry just pretend it's there like we all have to", will have to suffice for now, I guess.

What I believe would have been better for everyone though, was to leave the auto-blip/lift options and make them standard to certain servers unless chosen by the host to disable for the more important factor of realism. This way you would balance the amount of "sequential" users to "H-patt" users through servers and choose your selection by what hardware you happen to own at the time. So you will be able to drive the sim, to its full potential.

Am I to understand that LFS is to be played "only" with full 3 set pedals now for optimal sim play? And doesn't fully support any set of wheels without a clutch pedal as "optimal" for the game? Before patch Y my momo logitech(red) was more then I could wish for. Seems now the lack of a 3rd pedal will force me to buy 3 pedal set only for LFS.

I'm not complaining, I guess I knew this day would eventually come but I didn't think it would be so abrupt and so "cold shoulder" as to what LFS was, just a few weeks ago.

Anyone know a good 3 pedal set? Not the wheel just the pedals... better start looking I guess.
Quote from Yiots :Anyone know a good 3 pedal set? Not the wheel just the pedals... better start looking I guess.

I'm honestly going to get a set of these. If I'm allowed.
They look like they'll last forever.

Re: the rest for your post, I reckon the game is playable just fine with auto-clutch, but now better supports proper clutches.
Win/Win as far as I can see.

Turn on auto clutch?

MAJOR disappointment.
