Telementry
I am wanting to make a telementry program for live for speed what will display others lap times with each persons lap time in each sector, what gear they are in, their rpm(maybe if possible), their speed (Basically nearly all the data about the car as possible, where each person is on the track by displaying colour coded dots what will represent each racer and to display my gauges on the screen, the other speed and rpm will be displayed in text whilst mine will be displayed my gauges. Well enough of what the app will be for, I am wondering if anyone could tell me what I will need to include in the code in order to get this information and what files I will need to include.

Anyone?
Well... That's kinda like saying you are going to write a book and would like to know what words you need to include...

Basically, create a network connection with LFS and then look at the 'LFS\docs\InSim.txt' file to find out which packets you need to send and receive in order to achieve what you want.

As I say, your question covers a very broad area, so it's not really possible to give a narrow answer.

Cheers mate, I wasn't asking someone to tell me how to do the full application, sorry if it came across that way, just wanted the basic things I needed to include and where to obtain them from, as this is going to be my first proper application and will be to boost my coding knowledge a lot more and plus I want a good project what will be useful and may be useful for others.

Edit: After I have the packets I need to include and have it all running, then do I just link each line of code to a image, e.g: My speed what is showed in a gauge. I know once I have put all the code in, its there and ready to be used, then do I create the images, the interface with each segment showing me a piece of information like a image of fern bay showing where each racer is on the track

Just realised that I have basically said the same thing twice.
Edit: Ignore. I spend ages typing something that doesn't make any sense.

Don't worry about it anyway, I will figure it out, the I can put it on one of my 7" LCD screens until I can afford gauges from beta innovations, if this program runs right I will properly release it, don't know yet.

Just a quick question will the telemetry work whilst racing online or only for replays?

Quote from haelje :i htink there are some apps which doing excectly what you wanna do, for example http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=21688

Those apps on that page are similar to what I will be making, I will just be making it specifically for my 7" Touch Screen Monitor so I will have menus up the top screen with the information at the top I will post a diagram at a later date what will show how it will be set out.
If possible could anyway send me a c# file what is a basic insim app so I can then see how they are put together, cheers
You can't get RPM or Gear information from InSim you have to use OutSim, and that also means that everyone would have to turn on there outsim and them connect to your computer (Over the Internet) that's quite a lot of data to handle. Not saying it can't be done, just know what your asking, and what your trying to do. However if this does get off the ground, do let me know I would love, LOVE to see it working.
So your saying every program what displays speed rpm and gear information, connects to the authors computer, because if this is the case I will have to open ports for others to connect to my pc what I don't really want to do.

Edit: I knew I would have to use outgauge, never heard of outsim until a couple of weeks ago.
You don't need outsim. outGauge is probably enough...

But... OutSim and OutGauge only give you information for your own car (or the viewed car with some limitations. e.g. no fuel through ourgauge if it's not your own car)

So isn't it possible to view others speed, rpm and fuel levels if you are using the telemetry to see others speed whilst you are racing, say I am racing and I have all the information displaying on my screen when people are pitting, where they are on the track, what speed they are doing and other information without viewing their car.
Speed is possible, as it's in the MCI packet. But fuel/gear/rpm not as it's only available in the gauge packet. And pitting is availble through insim (IS_PIT).

Ok, cheers
