Should i Defrag my secondary hardrive?
I just got my new pc and stuck my old non windows harddrive in, should i defrag?

Well i know NOTHING about defraging at ALL so can someone teach me please?

What does it do?
How does it help?
Is it worth doing on a non windows drive?
(See screenshot) Should i do it to this drive?

Cheers,
Jim.

Go right ahead, defragging won't hurt a hard drive (well.. hope it doesn't, especially not microsoft's)

Anyways, it reorderes the files so they are easier to access, meaning your hard drive has to do less work, and thus making it faster, and closer to reading.

Go ahead, hit the defrag button.

It all depends on what you do with the drive. Do you often delete, move, create or download (mainly big) files to it? Then it's worth doing it once in every while.
Do you mainly use it to store files for a long time and don't move them around much? Then it will not have a lot of use.
Whether it's a windows system drive or not doesn't have a whole lot to do with it.
