UFC is the top MMA organization in the world (rapidly approaching boxing's popularity), and I wonder how many of my fellow LFS'ers are fans of the octagon.
Chuck Liddell, Cro Cop, Jared Rollins, Gray Manard are a few of the one's i root for.
Any predictions on Liddell v. Silva or St-Pierre v. Hughes?
i am a huge fan. i doubt anyone here is as big of a mma geek as me
I am looking forward to Yarennoka i hope the rumors of the JZ vs Aoki fight being canceled are wrong
JZ and aoki are 2 of the mos dangerous fighter p4p.
JZ beat shaolin AND Dida in the same night and he was sick with a staph infection when he did it. he's a monster. and Aok and his rainbow spandex pants of death have choked out numerous toplevel opponents.
I saw a special on 60 minutes or something about UFC a couple nights ago... It was pretty good because it was talking about how people are paying higher to see UFC/MMA fights than boxing has EVER had. Event count, viewer count, etc... all higher and bigger events than boxing these days.
Also the boxing federation(?) are quite unhappy about it all, and they still think their sport is the purest of man-to-man combat. But I highly disagree, and even some professional boxers have the same opinion, and actually turned to supporting UFC.
Was a really interesting mini-documentary about it. Probably the last boxing match I ever watched was De La Hoya vs. Mayweather, which was boxing's biggest match in history (viewer count and revenue). That was nothing though, and best argument was from UFC founder saying something along the lines of "I am not going to pay to go see a fight where they hardly fight at all --- intead I'll see lots of fights in one night".
Friends of mine are big fans of UFC, I go watch it at their place. I don't watch it enough to know what fights really matter though.
Sort of a fan of the UFC, as I used to train is certain areas of martial arts and train in mixed martial arts, as we had a certain programme what just taught nearly all martial arts, used to do that and boxing until I have my major bike accident.
The only thing about UFC is it's no where near as brutal as it used to be.
i have mixed feelings about the event, but overall it was pretty entertaining. K-1 Dynamite is on in about 7 hours, then yarennoka 6 hours after that... i'm not going to get any sleep.
Woooooooo love UFC it's so much better than boxing, after watching UFC then watching boxing i think the boxers are a bunch of panziez (that would still kick my arse) used to watch ultimate fighter too. My favourite was that matt guy i think it was he was awesome.
thats pretty ignorant to call boxing a sport for panzies. It is pretty dangerous as well, and requires alot of training and guts. Of course, MMA is a more realistic combat sport and more entertaining to me, most of the time.
Here are some random GiF's
The Legendary Sweet Pea
And finally... Fedor and his brother... i'll stop here since i'll probably end up deleting this post for 56k people...
Well not pussys i have respect or the sport and the people who do it but, when you watch them one after another which would you say is more harcore? boxing or MMA i know which one id choose.
Uncle has offered for me to go cage fighting with him, i was tempted but fighting for fun isn't really my scene, i only really do it if i feel threatened, ill get them before they get me philosophy.
I remember watching some K1 fights few years ago. Really entertaining stuff, unlike some of the boxing stuff which can sometimes get so boring to watch when the boxers are just trying to avoid eachothers.
I've seen some "true combat style" matches too where they don't use any kind of gloves and the rules are a bit more free. Basically it was like do not stuff your fingers in your opponents eyes or a**hole and it is ok. The matches are more about waiting an error from the opponent and in the end it is not really that entertaining to watch.
