It says: for more check these. If you follow the first link, do you honestly think you are the first one to suggest a le mans car in 51 pages?
And then there's the other thread which has 3 pages, bound to be in there somewhere
Well those cars would probably fall in the prototype category. It's been suggested countless times, I'd love something like them too. But more important for 24h races would be changing lightning, night and improved damage and mechanical stuff.
Endurance racing is really marginal in LFS, and that's why the focus on development isn't really on it. We eventually might have all the things and bits that would make near as challenging as it should be and would make endurance races even more high profile events because the challenge would be much much tougher.
something along the lines of that car, although its only half a car you can still get the idea, true it wouldnt be as important as failures etc but it would still be a good start.!
If by 'closed car' you're referring to the Peugeot and the Bentley EXP Speed 8 (and the Speed 8) they LMP as well (in the rules system); but they are often called GTP cars in relation to the GTPs of the 80s and 90s which were all closed-cockpit prototypes.
I'd like two modern LMP cars (one closed, one open) as well as a late 80s/early 90s GTP akin to the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo or the beautiful Porsche 962.
I'd personally prefer a slight variant on that - a closed top LMP1 type thing (possibly a diesel if that could be done) and a open topped LMP2, but done so they are one class - and a Sauber C9 or something
No rules have been written in stone yet. IIRC, only the P1 cars were to be closed, the P2s were going to be open still. The P1 cars are also rumored to be closer to the GT1 cars of the late 90s (a la Porsche 911 GT1, Nissan R390 GT1, Mercedes CLR, Toyota GT-One, etc) in an attempt to add some 'relativity' to the series and the race.
Of course, nothing is set in stone yet. The ACO may change their minds entirely before then.
No, nothing is actually final, but there is definitely that prospect. I think the proposal was actually for P2 cars to be closed as well, but how likely that is I'm not sure. Probably not very, although the P1 plans seem pretty certain.
Something that could have saved a lot of thread space...
The latter. A Le Mans car, in your view, means a Le Mans Prototype, often abbreviated to LMP. And that's on the list under 'hard to judge general opinion'.
