Quote from JTbo :with DFP I did use that even I had button for clutch, which I used at starts and pit stops.

Same here - I use a DFP (so only 2 pedals) and keep auto clutch turned on, but I also have a wheel button mapped to the clutch for use during starts, pitstops, and recovering from spins (to kick the back end of the car around if I'm pointing the wrong way).
i use autoclutch, my new MOMO wheel is only two pedals, and I can't justify buying a new wheel just to play with a clutch. I can't see doing heel 'n toe manuevers on pedals anyway, I can't get them to sit still as it is, much less during heel n toe.

And I have nothing to prove in that regard, I can heel n toe my real car, on a real track, with ease, and don't care to while racing LFS. I suck bad enough as it is. no need to make it worse.

Too bad you never got Volvo 360 that side of pond, I found 360 front spring to be just perfect to be put between wall and my pedals, now they stay on place
Fully manual on the G25!
I have autoclutch on because it helps with keyboard downshifts.

I press the clutch on upshifts though.
Autoclutch only on the cars where it should be based on transmission and gear box (examples: XRR , LX6 , FO8 , FZ5 , etc.).
Quote from sinbad :Don't know why anyone would use button clutch, and there should be no advantage to it over autoclutch (imho).
I have no 3rd pedal, so I have to use Autoclutch.

to keep clutch from overheating in the pits.
Quote from The Very End :I allways use auto clutch. But I still manage to heat up the clutch sometimes. I really are bad at getting used to lift the trottle a little bit every time I`m gearing

Welcome in my world mate

Now i dont use it anymore caus it feels like pain in the ass
Patch Y inspired me to break my old driving force (not driving force pro) open with a pry bar and move the chip into its pedals so I have a wheelless pedal set to use with my DFP.

So no, no more auto clutch

Quote from Lateralus :Interesting. I have a Momo too so I use auto-clutch also. What advantage does the button have on starts?

I press both the clutch and handbrake buttons, switch to first gear, rev the engine, and when the light goes green I just release both buttons. It feels more natural to me and since the clutch slips a bit, at first, I expect the wheels to spin a bit less and therefore have more grip. Can't prove it works, though.

Also, it's probably faster to release a button than pressing the paddle.
At the start of the test patches for Y, it inspired me to get my very old pedal set working as a clutch. I haven't looked back since. I suck at it, but I'm doing it, heel-toe and everything.

Funny thing is, I had to give up my truck a year ago and inherited the wife's auto tranny for a work commuter. Her new car is auto as well, so I've been without a manual in a real car for a year now. I just took her car to the store today, and because of using the clutch now in LFS for the past almost month, I got in the car and pushed in the clutch to start it. Only, there was not clutch pedal.

Habits are hard to break as I was always wanting to push the clutch in. Now I've gotten sort-of use to driving an automatic, but those habits of clutching can come back very quickly.
Whenever I have to drive a friend's car, which are almost all automatics, it's no end of trouble for me. Once I'm on the road and at speed I'm fine, but in parking lots and other creeping, low-speed scenarios it requires a huge effort of will not to just automatically hit the brake with my left foot as though it were the clutch. It's really embarrassing sometimes.

I've also been known to reach down and start pulling on the shifter when approaching a stop sign or light. Thank god for those little release buttons they put on automatic shift knobs or I'd probably accidentally throw it into reverse.

I don't like automatics, I feel like I'm driving a bumper-car or something. I get uncomfortable because it seems like I'm somehow not doing enough- like something is missing.

I imagine they are nice in gridlock though. I hate that- when everyone else is just idling along and I've got to be constantly switching between first and second- it's probably murder on the clutch.

Love,
Aero

Well, you can go from R-N, and N-D without pushing down the release button. And on my mom's car you can upshift from 1-2-D3-D without the button, but you cannot go back without pressing the button.
I learned driving in a manual, and enjoy it. When I discovered LFS I got a G25 right away so I can clutch properly like IRL. I don't seem to be having any clutch-overheating problems either.
