I exit some games (ALT + TAB) but they change the way the monitor is displayed (horizontal to vertical). How can I make the monitor display horizontally (from vertically) without using system restore? (I don't have a swivel monitor)

I can't recall where it is, but I have seen a rotation setting somewhere before. I'm unsure if it's in Windows natively or the display drivers but it's certainly possible without using system restore.

You can do it from nVidia's control panel (Display > Rotate Display), I would expect ATI to have the same feature in their bundle somewhere.
