I started of drifting in LFS a year and a bit ago when I first started to play this game, I stopper drifting around the end of february 2007, since they I have raced but a couple of days ago I started messing around drifting and brought back memories of the old drifting days and I was thinking of going back to the drifting community, the only thing is I don't know what to do, so I came here to see what you think by using a poll, you can also tell me what I should do.

I am not even known in the drifting community apart from a few guys and I am also hardly known in the racing community, so thats why I don't know what to do, I have never been in a drifting event apart from one round, never been in a racing event and not very good at drifting or racing, I want to get into the STCC, but I will have no chance in doing that and I sort of want to go into the popular drifting events but, proberly would have no chance getting in them either.

So what do you think I should do?

You have to decide what you want to do, - once you get that far everything else will be much easier.

How can you get advise when you don't know what you want?

Do what you enjoy.

If you're after recognition, which you seem to be, then make a video of yourself doing something embaressing and then submit it to digg.com and the something awful forums. You'll soon be well known..

In seriousness, the CTRA sounds like it could be what you're after?

I am not looking to be well known, I just don't know what to do because I am thinking I like racing but I also like drifting, but then I ask myself what do I like the most, thats when it gets hard. I want to go into good racing events and work my way up to get into the STCC, but on CTRA servers there are certain people who stop you, because they are all over the place, and I do report most of them. But thats where I want to get to but I don't know what to do.

It really is all down to what you enjoy. I totally suck at LFS, doesn't mean I don't still try to race like hell when I get online.

If you enjoy drifting more, there's your path.
If you enjoy racing more, that's your decision made.

If you want to get into good racing events start at CTRA.

Thats were I started (well I've haven't really finished starting yet) and once you get a bronze license the UF-BR server is really fun!

I have been on ctra for months, don't stay on it long though, so don't get much points, I am 50% until silver.

i had the same problem as you except i started out racing then went to drifting but eventualy you have to decide which one you prefer, i picked racing as i had been doing it longer but you may have different reasons between doing drifting or racing, do what you enjoy the most

i mean, driftings fun, but when the DFP came, it just doesn't feel comfrotable for me, as in the FF while drifting. Before, i used to drift a lot, but its just not possible now, i drift from time to time, and im still immensly great, but, i dunno....i've just moved to racing

I race most of the time but I still go back to my LFS roots and drift in the XRT now and then. I see drifting as a release from the constant stuggle to keep a car in control while racing and stopping it sliding too much. You can do both, just treat drifting as a fun thing to do when your bored of racing.

Yea you need to decide for yourself... I mean, if its not recognition you want, then why not do both back and forth? I race a lot, and I drift at times... I just do what I feel like doing that day, and we can't make this decision for you, do not look at your poll results to make your decision.

I thought this was going to be a real-life dilemma seems like only me has them on this forum

I am not making any of you make the decision for me, just getting others views to see how I should look at it. I think I will drift for about a month then go back to racing get my CTRA Platinium license, so then I can qualify for STCC, that will give me something to keep my mind focused on one thing.

Do whatever you feel like, when you feel like doing it. There's no time constraints or pressure in LFS. Its not going to suddenly go away tomorrow (We hope!).

Personally I do a little of both - I race till i can't be bothered or I start to get frustrated, then change server and relax a bit sliding about. I don't take any of it too seriously, I get the most fun out of it that way.

Go outside and find a girl to cuddle,become your girl friend ,marry her and then she will make the decision for you...

Jesus dude i would hate to think how long the decision process would be to buy a house!

I have the same feelings of the Angry Angel, I think he wants to excel, so he thinks he must make a choice. He may be right to some extent, being among the best in either field (or trying to be there) can require an enormous effort.

My appreciation of LFS is based on different premises, so my ideas on what to do wouldn't help him in any way. I know what would be best for me (and that's trying to have fun and learn something), but not for him.
