More graphics issues - disappearing AA/AF
I'm quite happy setting up my graphics card to get LFS looking good, and I usually run 4x AA and 4x AF through my ATI control panel thing.

Since the patch though, it seems to be pot luck whether LFS will accept these settings - they can be forced in the ATI panel, I'll load up LFS, enter practice and the spinning car will look all jagged. If I then alt-tab back to windows, the AA/AF settings have been reset to 0 and 0. Even if I reset them back to 4, LFS won't recognise them. It seems to take a random combination of alt-tabs, resetting the AA/AF to 4x and restarting LFS to get the graphics settings to stick - I haven't found a method to make it work yet.

Any ideas?
I am having similar issues, though I think it is driver related, nothing to do with LFS. I had it before patch Y as well and have the same issue with other games.

What works for me is, ALT+TAB and then setting the catalyst AI to disabled from standard and vice versa if AA+AF gets lost again. Though on a new reboot, selecting optimal quality (that is 4xAA, 16xAF) from the standard settings menu works always, after shift+f4, alt+tab or exiting lfs, it is lost, but can be "recalled" with the above mentioned.

In XP I have to do the above, in vista 64bit it works without any problems though.
I've had the same issues as well. It's not LFS, it's the ATI drivers. Thankfully, my machine has stayed AA/AF enabled for quite a while now, but the last driver version that I had installed would constantly revert to no AA/AF. I had to jump through hoops to get it working again.

My next video card will be an nVidia.
Funny, I never had this issue at all. Then as soon as I patched to version Y, it started happening.

I'll update the thread if I find a fix.
My LFS doesn't liked being alt+tabbed, much preffers shift+F4 to window mode
I had the same issue before patch Y and now as well. Nvidia drivers here. I can alt-tab fine.

have you tried what I suggested?

I did briefly, and it didn't seem to work, but I've just had another play. Leaving the Catalyst AI set to low (off, low, high are the options) LFS seems to keep my settings.

So, hurrah! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction - I'm just off to find out what the AI is, and what I've turned on!

Incidentally, there are threads on the forum reporting exactly the same "losing of settings" problems with nvidia cards too, so it doesn't appear to be purely an ATI issue.
