The engine could run for a surprisingly long time at 19k rpm. The whole idea of limiting them to 19k is so they never blow up like they used to in the past.
Not necessarily. If you look at some of the cars they run on the ovals the frame looks like its bent all to hell because it makes it turn better. Can't really see it from the side but if you look at it straight on you can definitely tell. Wish I could find a picture of it. Of course, the road course cars would be built symmetrical.
Anyway, with the new "car of tomorrow" they aren't allowed to do that any more.
I'd like to have another oval... Kyoto is too big, it is just an full throttle oval. Something I know from the Champcar was the "Milwaukee mile" (hope i spelled it right), where you'd have to break. Bristol-style would be, ehm... giantic... or something like ovals, wich don't have the form of an oval, a triangle or something like that. In this case Rockingham comes to my mind.
These "Milwaukee mile"-syle or the Bristol style could be included into a bigger LFS areal. There is no need to use an oval as surrounding of the areal (like in Indy)
Btw: somebody already thought of an olympic stadium track oval??? where these doped boys and girls are running in new world records? ^^ [OT] maybe with connection to the next motorway or some other routes. [/OT]
Cars:
I'd like to have a stockcar type in nascar style. And stocktrucks would be great too. But at least... every new car in lfs is great
An athletics track? That's 400m, a lot of regional tracks in the US are that long, it's also legal for a speedway track and are used for BRISCA in the UK, so it's possible.
Yeah, and I'm saying that they're not. The back bumper is skewed way off to one side because they're only turning left and it makes the car turn better.
That first picture kind of shows it, I guess they call them offset chassis. I've seen some with the body on and the rear bumper is actually moved over to one side.
i think they should have shale / mud so it aint just 1 surface
concrete all the time lol
plus you will get the cars sidewards and would be challenging
great idea ???

idk...Pocono can be either really intense or really boring. I still prefer a .5 mile short track similar to Bristol and Martinsville. (I made one in the AutoX ).
Come to think of it, i'm starting to like Salem (from ARCA)
a) a short track like martinsville / bristol /milwaukee
b) a D shaped oval with high banking like California, Kansas
c) a superspeedway like talladega
d) a quadoval like Indy
E) PROPER AERO MODEL FOR DRAFTING!!!!
F) WORKING PACECAR-SYSTEM
G) PROPER CARS (Stock, Indy)
H) ASYMETRICAL SETUPS
btw: i did a flat oval on the autocrosspad as well but 1) its flat, 2) we do not have proper pits there 3) only 16 drivers
Would be nice, and the road course version would be like Enna on steriods
If a road course can be factored in.
Ditto.
Ditto, although it's a unique case (like Thruxton is)
FISCHFIX, IT SEEMS LIKE YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY IS BROKEN . The aero model needs some tweaks anyway, there already is drafting but the BF1 seems a little odd (not as if I've driven an F1 car)
Yes, a proper safety car system would be a good idea for all tracks, but is a little detail. Probably wouldn't be that hard to do given the AI improvements, all that's needed is a way of detecting when to deploy it.
Could be worthwhile, although there's plenty of other gaps e.g. Karts (would need chassis flex), small non-downforce single seaters (e.g. Formula Ford), proper touring cars (like BTC-T or S2000 cars) and LMPs.
Aren't the tyre pressures already asymmetrical ... (OK, the suspension isn't).
and the tyre compounds aren't as well, meaning you have to use R3/4 on the whole axis instead of just one wheel. please dont ask me about the sense of such a change, but it was useful (and nonexistent) at Patch Q times (man, I'm gettin' old!), and may be useful in the future too.
and the spoilers aren't, however i'd consider this a minor priority. it is however used on the front wings of Formula cars a lot.
So you can't put an oval in the game without attaching a road course to it? Have you ever seen Bristol, or most major short tracks for that matter? They generally don't have a road course. Its pretty obvious that the only "priority in play" is that you get more of what you want.
Yeah, I've heard about asymmetrical wings being used. Whilst I'm pretty sure a rear wing can't be done asymmetrically, I've deffo heard of Ralf asking for more front wing on one side. I'm not sure if they had that on the F1.06, lots of silly setup things have been done (including, IIRC, a system of adjusting the wheelbase of the car that Ferrari did one year).
I don't think now they run different compounds front and rear in F1, but they often do in other series. Now, you can't run stripes and non-stripes at the same time, but I'm not sure if the rear ones are harder or the rears are.
EDIT : Whilst I grant that few half milers have a road course, Iowa and Milwaukee Mile (7/8ths and 1 mile) do have a road course. And surely it's better to use development time effectively
development time... i think they pointed out already they are doing the things they feel like to do or stumble over it. so we do not have a chance to force any of our ideas into the development process.
we will have to wait and see, like the last 2,5 years (and maybe longer)
i mean if you think about development time, then why is the auto-cross pad and its stuff there almost the same as 2,5 years ago... if that area would be a rectangle twice as wide (length is okay) and some more objects and an option to have either tarmac or gravel ground, a lot of people would not complaining about getting new tracks and stuff.
in fact i do think making a square area (which is already there) twice as big and put some more objects (like pitting box) into it is the work of like 2 or 3 days max. (btw. i did some trackdesig in other games like e.g. Riverside)
this kind of addition would come handy for all oval racers, drifters, rallyX guys (if there are some objects like small hills and jumps)
EXACTLY. Oval racing should not (and are sometimes not) be categorized with road courses, even IF IndyCar is an open wheel. It's like categorizing drag racing with rally racing. Therefore it should be included.
