Strange tyre temp behaviour

Quote from Bob Smith :That's not specific to LFS. Tyres run different lines through the corner. Parallel steering makes them try and take the same line. Hence scrub. Ackermann steering lets them take the lines they are actually going round. So minimal scrub.

I'm counting on the fact that he's overturning anyway (on Blackwood, where there is really just one tight turn), wouldn't that make the inside tyre scrub heavily with toe-out/full ackermann?
With full Ackermann, yes it would, but no more so than the outside tyre. If you were to over-turn then running part Ackermann would be best, but then you're not supposed to be over-turning.
Thanks for so much advice, folks.

I found that the problem was ... a graphical glitch. The tyres are all at the expected temperatures now. For some reason, the display for the front-right keeps flickering on and off, and sometimes it looks like the number for the inside edge of the tyre reads above 100, but it's actually just flickering quickly between 8 and 9 and making it look like 11.

Didn't look properly. Sorry.
The flickering isn't a graphical glitch, it's a hot spot on the tyre appearing on the display every time that bit of tyre points upwards (and when it coincides with a frame draw).
I won't create a new thread, maybe i should, but anyway.. what's the deal with the tyres, what happened to that "R1's are now only for hotlap or two" We ran a race of 24 laps at BL with FBM and we used a HL set with R1 back and front and they lasted just fine..

yeah just as Tristiancliffe has said its where you have locked that tire on a 1 point causing a hot spot, if you stop your car and roll it very slowly you will see the temp change as the wheel rotates
