What's your favorite drive type?
and can you explain what for?
There is only one 'drive type', that is rear wheel drive. Anything else is like internet porn, its at best acceptable but still way way off the real deal. :P
yes, but i like awd, more specifically the subaru symmetrical awd...
i drive the new impreza hatch, when someone asks about my car, i say it has the same basic layout as a 911 turbo...

i kinda voted wrong... i ment symmetrical awd not ff convert... kinda sad since i wrote the polls
Mid engine with front wheel drive and rear engined with front wheel drive ? enlighten me !
Mid engined Rear Wheel drive for racing, Front engined rear wheel drive for everything else..

Not sure about that Saab but the DS definitely had an engine in the front, (it's one of my all time favourite cars too lovely, especially the early 70's model)

edit: just googled that Saab, and the engine was indeed behind the front axle but ahead of the passenger compartment, so it's not really a true mid engined car (but i guess i'm just being pedantic)

edit 2: forgot to mention i voted Front Engine RWD
Front engine RWD 4eva! Mid engine RWD suxx, look at FZ5..too much understeer... But that's just my opinion
The Fz5 isn't mid engine though, it has its engine hanging from a long beam sticking out of the back!
then that means the Fz5 is the lfs equivalent of a 911
Front-engined AWD for just about any type of driving. For general use with normal motorists, it is the safest type of drivetrain, as long as the driver is not a complete numpty.

For racing, rear-engine RWD or any type of AWD. Traction upon acceleration rocks, but you need to dial out the understeer. Stable.
RWD! Only real way to drive cars. I voted for front engine RWD, because my cars are like that and most cars I like are like that, but of course mid and rear engines are good too. FWD just sucks. AWD is good thing when you have massive amount of power.

Front engine AWD FTW

414BHP + AWD = Audi RS4, best car ever

Why are you guys so obsessed with RWD?

Im not i love front wheel drive driven swift some times fel in love with the way it handles

(BTW im 16 so i can only drive in a closed safe inviourment)

aka: race track

also driven kind of like XRg counter part somemewhat a MX5 mazda but the handling is way difrent
FF's are good for autoX or small curves(like the slow slalom course), but honestly, I like rwd or awd way better...

FF's are predictable, that's why it's safer for the average citizen and that's why most production cars are mostly ff's
I voted front-engined rear-wheel-drive. I just love the predictability and how I can get it to do what I want. The mid- and rear-engined cars I've driven have been fun, but there have been more times in those than a nicely balanced FR car when I've not been able to get it to do just what I want.

Well, also that FF is typically less expensive and the best layout from a packaging point of view.

Why we wouldn't be? RWD is just great, it's so simple.

Ahhhh, the dark age of crap cars is ending, in a few years there will be a flood of cheap fr sports cars on the market soon, and it's all thanks to all those now-rich companies willing to sacrifice a litte for the greater good.

well, it seems like it's going well, and the best 2wd platform is the fr, since it's so well balanced and versatile, but i think 2wd's with the engine above the driving wheel is best(since i live in a very wet and snowy region).
FF sports care are nothing new. Remember the VW Golf GTI and Peugeot 205GTi of the late 1980s? They were hot hatches in the true meaning of the word. They'd beat most modern hot hatches in a race/rally environment.
Rear engine Front Wheel drive ftw!
Real men vote MR.

I agree there, the 'hot hatches' that are made now are nothing to write home about. I mean jeez how can you call a honda civic a 'hot hatch' it may have the looks but it shure doesn't have the power to back that saying up. About the only cars I can think of that come to mind are the SRT-4 and the Mini Works Edition.

Don't Forget the GLH turbo, 14.0 1/4 mile in the late 80's, all without an LSD or even equal length 1/2 shafts!
Front engine all wheel drive cause i like skylines scoobies and evos
Front engine RWD for me. MR cars (when not counting single seaters) seem to be too much of a handful to drive.
Quote from Luke.S :Front engine all wheel drive cause i like skylines scoobies and evos

scubies and gtr's are different from evos
infact i think that the subies are different from gtr's

Evo's are ff's with an added "aftermaket" driveshaft

subie's are solid awd with the engine parallel to the drive shaft; this symmetrical driveshaft allows for a raw-er(not a word) platform that makes computers optional since there is no torque steer and all the torque is distributed evenly among the wheels
^so are porsche 911 turbo's

last time i checked, GTR's are FR platforms with a weird link from the rearmount transmission to the front axis... which is lopsided, but who cares, it's computers do all the driving for you so there is no such thing as torque steer.
