Would you mind attaching the translation files? I know it doesn't work in a standard LFS.exe but it would be nice to see how the translation files are constructed.
I have seen screenshots of LFS in Chinese and it is amazing how they managed to do that. Anyway the translation files would be interesting to see, and maybe I could use them for testing when I try to make LFS support Chinese writing.
I have seen LFS of Chinese, too. When I search it. I found application called "C-LFS". here
I was not able to download it not to be able to register itself because I did not understand Chinese.
But, I was able to get a W version at a different site.
I was able to display the Japanese when I edited "dxfont.ini". GREAT!
Probably the other multi-byte countries will be possible, too.
But I was downed more than 20fps. (Is it a reason to use D3DXfont?)
Proxy DirectX? hack D3DXfont? I can't understand how it works.
Anyway, I attach a file.(Included translation files)
But, I don't get permission,Because I can't contact an author.
I think that I do not violate the license of this tool. (As far as I watch ReadMe. ) But I delete it if there is a problem.
I hope that an author post a X or Y version to this forum.
Sorry 4 my bad machine translation english.

Thank you for that! It will be interesting to figure out how it works.
Yes, they must have changed the LFS text drawing system to use D3D text drawing and this must be slower than the way LFS works with characters on pregenerated textures.
I don't think there is a problem, the authors did not get our permission to make this!
Kool... Btw Chinese and Japanese are pretty similar because they are of Chinese descends... Chinese words with lots of weird looking Japanese symbols..
i dont know how C-LFS works exactly but as far as i know players with C-LFS can actually plays S2 without a S2 license.
heres a copy of C-LFS as i thought you might be interested.
[ EDIT by Scawen : removed link now as I have the info I need - thanks ]
simply extract the files in the rar to your lfs folder and run C-LFS.exe(according to C-LFS' website the C-LFS.exe includes a ip fix which allows players without S2 license to connect to C-LFS' own S2 servers)
well, i dont want to ruin peoples fun who plays at SRFC since iam a part of the forum too, but in C-LFS theirs the famous ip crack within the program. so unless you send them another letter to tell them to exclude the ip crack for the new patch y version, i dont think it should be included.
iam not sure if the ip crack is in the new patch y version that just came out
but heres the new download: http://bbs.srfc.com.cn/attachment.php?aid=43782
ip crack only works well you use the s2 keygen thing.
i found out that patch y version of the clfs contains no crack or anythin, just simply a translated version.
the ip crack and stuff were uploaded by some other guy so it wasnt in the program
it should be safe to contain in the official download and thats what most ppl in SRFC hopes would happen
I'm coding LFS to draw the double byte characters itself without the need for an "exe hack" included in the download. It will be done in a better way than was possible with C-LFS. In C-LFS the frame rate of LFS is reduced because of the use of DirectX fonts (as I understand it). C-LFS has paved the way and inspired me, but is of course not the final solution.
The LFS version with be storing the characters on textures in memory and removing them when they are not needed so the frame rate will be just as high as with alphabet based languages.
