Any Mountain Bikers/Cyclers here?
Yeh as the title says anyone ride here just for fun or maybe in a team/club

well i ride my mountain bike in a Club called Mountain X usually in forests etc usually ride on grade 4-7 tracks

as for cycling i have just started and race in a time trial every monday whiich is 14.4k first time trying it was yesterday i did it in 28mins exactly for my first effort i feel thats good

so yeah what about you guys?
I know that Daddyo is a mountain biker man. I have a mountain bike, but no mountains in sight. Sorry.
Bicycles are my favourite mode of transport and recreation vehicles. Annually I do more kilometers on a bike than in a car. I've participated in a few audax events and done some large rides with friends and on my own - longest nonstop distance being ~240km which on Crete involves quit alot of climbing as the terrain is far from flat, highest mountain area you get get up to here with a road bike is about 1200m. Atleast it keeps it interesting because in one attempt I had in a flatland ride on the mainland for a 400km endurance event I was bored out of my skull. I've done a few races as well, mostly endurance and some time trials.

Sadly I don't have a mountain bike as I didn't want to invest more money and time into it and usually MTBs are high-maintenance = extra time and cost.
Congrats man! ive just started but ive done 45km mountain biking soo i got a long way to go
Depending on the terrain 45km can be quite a bit for a mountain bike ride because you can't always just keep a steady tempo like you'd do on a road bike and a lot of bursts are involved. Judging from photos I've seen from NZ cycling clubs and events I guess you probably have some nice areas for cycling around there, eh? Sadly, our once-quiet areas are now being populated - blast all that publicity about our "good weather"... don't listen to that crap folks - it's terrible here! Stay were you are.
Yea fantastic areas in New zealand to cycle and mountain bike theres still some tracks that are virtually impossible for me straight down slippery as fcuk good cycling areas down at my batch
I used to be quite big on mountain biking, but haven't done much about it in the past few years or so. My father used to be a semi-professional road racer, though, in his younger days, and so that has shifted my focus a bit more towards road racing over the years. I still don't get out on the bike as often as I should, but hey - I still enjoy it

No mountains here..
I grew up riding Frankenbikes my brothers and I would slam together out of old bits - dad even carved us a track in the scrub with some earthmoving gear. Until a year ago or so I used to BMX everywhere and hurt myself (a lot). Had a small vert ramp in my last share house with a mate a few years ago. Riding home from work and hitting the ramp straight away was pretty sweet

Got myself a 27-speed X-country bike last year for my own Xmas present (I've had mountain bikes before but this was my first new one). Great machine - tough as hell, sprung front & rear. Hasn't been very dirty yet through a combo of no time, noone to go riding off-road with (don't know the trails around Melbourne, haven't lived here that long) and the fact that I ride to work - by Friday I hate the sight of my bike because it reminds me of my cubicle It's a touch on the heavy side though. It's not the most practical thing for street riding but hey, it looks hella tough 45km guys, jeez, that'd probably kill me

Loads of riders here in Melbourne - I heard the other day that bikes outsold cars last year. Again! Judging by the bike traffic in the morning that doesn't surprise me at all...

I have a 2006 Giant Boulder, though I only really use it to commute to work (I did 3000 miles last year ). There's some nice singletrack a few miles from where I live which I've ridden a few times, but that's about it as far as I've done using my bike 'properly'.
I used to spend my summers riding my mountain bike, but since I am at the university, I have no time
I did among 60 and 80km per day, all days. OMG, I miss that days, now I am a f***ing student with no time for sports :Kick_Can_
I just got back from Halfords having bought and fitted a new tyre/inner tube after the existing one gave up on me. Got me a half day off work though as it's my only form of transport. I've had the bike almost exactly a year now and have yet to take it off-roading. This summer I'll start, I've promised myself. Atm I'm running road tyres so I can take corners fast but I've still got the knobblies it came with ready and waiting to go on when the time comes.

The longest cycle I've done was 78 miles (125km), although again that was all on-road.
I am a keen cyclist and use my bike when ever possible. I haven't been able to use my bike as much as I would like to these days. Nothing really to see down here in the south and everything is too damn flat.

Here are a few pics from Czech Republic and a cycle trip i took around Usti the city where I was born. I was cycling towards a viewing tower on top oh a hill 630m high . You get some nice scenery and nice elevation changes some hills having more than 14 degrees climbs. Fun going down

In the first pic you can just make out the viewing tower with its three floors in the dip in the distance.

I don't have a mountain bike but I do own a bmx and used to race at bmx tracks years ago. Now I mainly stick to attempting flatland tricks. Search bmx flatland on youtube for some demos if you don't know what that is.
Picture of my bike:

It was originally a complete Dyno bike. But the frame was awfully heavy, so I opted for the aluminum Specialized FatBoy y-style frame.

Wow! That's quick! It takes me about 4 hours to ride 4-6 miles........

Oh, that's riding with the 7 year old. Have to stop at EVERY flower and butterfly we see along the way .
Afternoon guys!!!

I been into Bikes all my life used to ride about on a haro hardtail few years ago and then decided it was time for full susser. I have a Mongoose Teocali wich started as the comp http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/2195/bike2tc4.jpg.
Soon after that photo was taken last year it developed a couple small hairline cracks, frame had a 5 year warrenty on it so i was lucky enough to get a free replacement, even luckyer still is the fact the new frame is the top of the range of teocalis. So i went from a teocali comp 06 to a teocali super 07 frame. I have upgraded the wheels and tyres and also new brakes to six pot callipers + braided hoses and a 203mm/8 inch front disk. This is now how it looks http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/4813/bike3ve4.jpg. Next for upgrade it new front forks and a new rear shock in the next few months then i will be hitting fort william hard!!!. I also had a Onza t-master trials bike which i sold as it was to small for me (6ft 2) it was the same as this http://www.onza.com/bikes/mod/bikes_mod_t-master_black.jpg.
Cheers m8 Snow is great fun even if you fall off it dont hurt so much
Aye, we got this thing going http://www.7stanes.gov.uk/ in Scotland where there is everyhting from kids runs to double black diamond stuff
All handily located not more than 2 hrs from my house.

Then theres the Fort William DH course (insane: 2.6km long, 525m descent :nod along with the huge XC trails located beneath it in the forest.

I do a bit of that when the weather stops me going rock climbing
Where in NZ do you go? I've been looking to get into it but my bike is crap and im lazy
The Kennetts have a great book out listing most areas to ride in NZ, Used to ride in Wn a lot, Mt Vic, Karori, Tararua's etc.

Basicly provided you keep out of the National Parks ( No sense of humour if the catch u ! ) there's heaps of great riding nearly everywhere.

Even in Wanga's we've got a Mt Bike park thats only 10 min ride away !.
SIlent war And Racer X Nz what part of nz are you from and one of the best tracks for my level right now is redwood forest in rotorua went there last week good fun real steep great downhill 2 days worth of tracks
