Quote from DieKolkrabe :How big is the stuff?

All the stuff is spread over about half a dozen CD's, so i've just done a quick add up, and it comes to about 1030mb, and i'm sure i missed a few, some of them are just filenames that don't really tell you what they are.

And thats not including any Helo's or Jets, or missions, nor does it include any of the payware stuff i've already got installed in FSX

meep!

Yousendit /should/ be able to handle it (I think)

Yousendit free service is max download limit of 1gb per month and max file size is 100mb. One file is 208mb, and :shhh: The payware stuff is about 250mb each

I'm running out of ideas

The best idea by far is to join Flightsim.com, Avsim and Simaviation and have a look for yourself. Have a look through their forums and see what folk are recommending and what to avoid.

And just to throw another cat into the fire, if you've got a good, fast broadband connection you wanna check out Tileproxy. It's a bit of a pain in the arse to set up, but, honestly your eyes will be on storks when you see it. Give my a few mins and i'll hunt out some vids

P.S :shhh: The Pirate Bay is a good place to get free payware stuf, but it seems to be offline at the mo....??

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EhGdOeBw1zc heres one
http://www.stage6.com/user/Bra ... 6983/Surfing-Saint-Helens this is even better, and check out the other two vids on that page
http://edtruthan.com/tileproxy/ some screenies from The Grand Canyon, plus a link to the vid http://edtruthan.com/tileproxy ... /TPB5_GrandCanyonClip.wmv
I'd also like to ask a question

Where are the saved games files saved for FSX?
I'm pretty sure I've backed up the ones I've read about on the net, but just to double check, where are the specific folders for the saved game file?

(Saved game file including.. Completed Missions, etc)
Erm, they should be in an FSX folder in your My Documents folder by default.
I backed that up so that's good.
But in that folder it's only my saved flights and the saves I did during missions.
Erm, not quite following you ?, i'm not the sharpest tool in the box, but what exactly do you mean by saved game files ?

The Realair Spitfire is amazing in FS9 and will be released for FSX soon.

do you use Fs9?... and those links you put are free or i need to pay to get those planes... ive been searching a lot for a free Cessna 421 but no one has it...

Yup, i use FS9.

Those links are for Payware.

I'm not really up to speed with the Freeware stuff, But if you cant find what your looking for on Avsim then it probably doesn't exist.

The only Cessna 421 i can find is Payware, by Flight1, It looks nice, i might have to check it out
Just been having a look and managed to find an AI Cessna 421 here http://lists.avsim.net/piperma ... s/2006-August/000731.html

If you go here http://www.fsplanet.com/12062006.htm and download a panel then you should be able to use it yourself.

Can't exactly remember how to use the Ai aircraft, but i think it's just a case of moving the folder into the correct section, plus maybe add a sound file ? not sure though, it's been a few years since i did it.

edit, you'll have to scroll down to find the files, i don't know how to put a linked page at a certain place ?
Plus i guess you'll need to be a member of Avsim and Fsplanet to download em !

Hope that helps
Well done Mazz,
I must admit i didn't look too hard

Yup, the finest small plane ever made for FS. It's so slow, but has huge atmosphere

Here's a vid of the DO-27 with the fantastic Flightzone02 Portland scenery. This is FS2004 even though he named the vid "FSX Awesome" (i think he was taking the piss :razz

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uYzAkR9G1k

Quite frankly, when FS2004 looks this good and runs beautifully on my Athlon64 3200+ and a 6800GS with a gig of ram, you can stick FSX where the sun don't shine
Well, what I mean by "Saved game files" is .. I'd like to backup all the missions and rewards I've achevied and unlocked, so when I format I can put them back there and they're there.

yes... fs2004 can look better than fsx .. with high res scenery and that stuff.. shame i cant have fs2004 .. my disc #4 is f++ked

That scenery isn't available for FSX.

The clipboard has all your options/maintainence/views etc...

Ok, i think you mean that hidden folder that MS drops into your Application Data folder. You'll probably have to go into the folder settings and uncheck "hide all system folders" option, then look in Documents and Settings/"whatever your personal folder is", mine's called ME/Application Data/Microsoft/FSX, in that folder you'll see things like the main FSX.cfg and the Camera.cfg as well as the Rewards.BIN. Save that FSX folder as well as the Flight Simulator X files Folder in My Documents as mentioned previously.

If you want you can also save the Rewards folder in the main FSX folder in my programmes. Infact if you've got loads of installed stuff in FSX then do what i do and burn the entire main FSX folder onto a DVD then simply copy and paste the saved stuff into the newly installed FSX after you've done you're format. Does any of that make sense ?

To the chaps above, yeah yeah, this arguments being going on since the FSX demo was first released and will probably go on way after FS11 is released. Believe it or not i actually get better frame rates with FSX than i did with FS2004, granted i had just about every single addon ever released for the game, and running it all at max settings dragged my frames down to 14ps. With FSX i'm getting a steady 25-30 at mid-ish to high-ish settings, and even more when using Tileproxy (when it works).

The thing with that Portland scenery is, it's only about 50 square miles of a place i don't wanna fly in, and once you've left the area it's back to the old stock FS9 graphics. Whereas with FSX you get that kind of scenery and traffic for the entire world. Plus you get better flight modeling in FSX and the cockpits in the stock planes are so much better than in FS9, and ATC isn't quite as stupid in FSX (still dumb, but not as bad as FS9). And then there's DX10 which looks fantastic.

However, i'm still kinda fond of FS9, so if you lot insist on staying with it then whatever you do, make sure you've got "Flight Environment" from Flight1, honestly, some of the weather systems it creates will take your breathe away, especially at dawn or sunset. It's a must have for FS9. Also for the Brits checkout "Flying Club" from Just Flight, got some great scenery of Shoreham Airport and the South coast, plus some great GA planes. Some of the other Just Flight stuff is good too "Cargo" and "Airline Pilot" are both good.

And erm, :shhh: if you're looking for payware stuff, erm on the......"cheap".... *cough* thepiratebay.org *cough* seems to be back online :shhh:
Thanks, luckly that was another folder I previously backed up Good to double check.
Thanks
Dan

I suddenly remember a plane that I use to fly a lot that I lost after moving to a new PC.

the Aerosoft DA20 Katana.

a good modern well sorted 2 seater with fabulous VC, bubble canopy with glider like view angles and minimum approach speed of something like 50kts makes it perfect for bush flying.
