well, i found out that AVG sucks *ss. to me when i opened computer i had to w8 15 mins before computer vorked. it didnt announce if it found a virus... i couldnt play in interent, so i chanced to Antivir personal edition classic. works better
and if it was freeware try other Anti-virus program
EDIT: and after i installed antivir i found 13 troijans or other viruses when i scanned my computer

Strange I run AVG system suite ( FW & Anti Virus & Spyware) and found it very good I run LFS Crysis, Farcry etc without probs? Have you checked for other background tasks running ?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with AVG. It is not causing your computer to take 15 mins to work, nor is it causing LFS to crash.

I've used AVG for longer than i care to remember and it's never caused me a problem.
turn off 'scan system on start up'

Everytime you start your computer AVG is set to do a full system scan under the default settings. I found this annoying and I bet it's what is causing your problems because it can use a good bit of processing power
