Agreed about not competing with a championship rival.
However, faced with the fact that we have more than the maximum 32 allowed in a race, we have to have more than one race. It was either having top half in one race and the bottom half in the other (this would be unfair as the winner of the second race would only get a maximum of half points), or the one that we've adopted.
Even if only 31 people turn up (max is 31 due to SC), then we'll still have 2 races as 31 beginners + T1 = mass disaster.
Excluding people from a tournament designed to welcome them to the community wouldn't make sense . The number of applicants has levelled off now, after the initial flurry of interest. I'd be very suprised if 31 turned up to any event, but J@kto's point remains, he has the quality of the racing to consider as well as hard limits.
@ J@tko: you mentioned splitting the top and bottom halves of the grid. If a similar number apply next time, how about two "divisions", with the better racers in division 1 and the proper beginners in division 2?
The top 3 in division 2 would be "promoted" to division 1 at the end of the series, and the top 3 of division 1 would "graduate" the LFSBC and have something to take to the major teams and say "check out my qualification from the school of LFSBC "
Not so fast... We'll enter the unofficial teams championship, it'll be.. "Team some-random-car-show-name-here-And-yes,-we-couln't-think-of-a-better-name"
We'll still win the unnoficial team championship anyway because the series will be over by the time you've figured out how to fit your team tag in your name
So, do slower cars get a headstart in the race? I was thinking like the way it's done in some banger racing series, where the qualifying times are reversed, so that the fastest drivers start at the rear. It gives them an extra challenge, and gives slow drivers a chance to drive competitively...
OK, I've just realised I have a serious problem...
After spending a week playing both CLC and CTRA, I find that I lose connection a LOT. I mean every lap. But I have no lag, and I can see everyone right up until I lose connection. It only seems to happen in relatively full servers, which is annoying...
Stefani - join the Reserves list in the LFS Beginner Cup forum, you may be allowed to join if people don't turn up. I think reserves are also welcome to join all practice events (I go to them and I'm a "last resort" reserve!)
Showing your interest now should also guaruntee you a place in the next cup.
