Anyone else play this amazing sim? Absolutely fantastic off or online, as long as you ignore the little american prats threatening each other every other second.

Best game EA have released in a looooong time.

10/10 !
It's a brilliant game. But online? Have you been able to play it lagfree?

I tried many times. I didn't experience a lagfree online session at all. Was quite a disappointment.

There is already a thread for this game btw.
I love the game and i keep playing it everything still seems to be new even though its the same ol thing which is the best part. Best skating game ever made imo
Been playing the demo, its so much better then TH series.. i love the bails you can do on it :P

A video i've made. I tried to keep the tricks simple and somewhat realistic. The quality is crap tho... google vid.

Nice tricks there mate! I keep trying to kickflip through the rails, but keep smashing into said rails.

Online, I mostly get lag free sessions, unless I play until all hours. I find it quite fun when it is just slowdown lag, tricks look like you are playing a replay at 50% speed!

Also, there is a glitch to let you land from any height. Just keep tapping both triggers as you fall and then hold just before impact. I can land a jump from the top of the Mega ramp with this!
Thanks! The kickflips where the board goes below the rail and your feet above only works good on certain rails (the height of them is the key factor). And even on those certain rails, its all down to practice. I bailed at least 100 times until i nailed it.

I know of the landing glitch, but i find it a pretty cheap trick.

About the lag, as i've said. I didn't have one session without when playing online. Even with a friend who lives really close to me. And it wasn't some sort of "slow down" lag that looked like slow motion. It's always this kind of stuttery lag, which looks like you're watching a slideshow. If they are ever going to fix their netcode problems, then i might consider playing online again, otherwise, no thanks!
I only use the landing glitch in freeskate online or career mode. However, one thing that REALLY annoys me is the cheating ****s who play spot battle and get the multiplier up to 3 by 360 flip-manual-nollie laser flip and THEN do the spot to get mega points!

The other night I somehow managed to get into a spot battle on X-games megaramp against the top 5! Seeing as I'd only had the game about 5 days I was utterly humiliated by these 'aliens' and was surprised when they were actually giving me a running commentary on how long to spin for, what tricks to perform and how! Nice bunch!
It's just a great big skating sandbox to go and skate in. It's brilliant, and SKATE2 will be just awesome if they improve the 'vert' (is that the right word? :shrug side of skating.

As much as I hate EA (most of the time), when they do innovative things with analogue controls (i.e. Fight Night/Skate), they do impress me.

Haven't played it online though. Sandbox games never work online...
Ooh, forgot to ask, what's your highest amount of broken bones? Got 13 so far by leaping off a roof and diving face first into the floor.
Vert is the right word, and yep, they need to improve that part of the game. Also, there are lots of tricks missing in the game. But hey, the way you perform the tricks in Skate is kinda limited. So at some point, it's either a limitation in number of tricks, or it will go the way of "button pressing" as TH always was (which would be a bad thing).

I have no idea how many bones i've broken in that game btw... i don't pay attention to that stuff really. But i guess it must have been a few...

PS: Crackdown could be called "sandbox game" aswell IMO, and it did/does work perfectly online.
absolutly love this game, one of my fav on the next gen console, it makes tony hawk look so arcadey, but we settled for it as it was the only decent skating game around, but skate has just blown it out of the water. One of the only EA stick things that i like, great innovation
Yeah agree!
Those tree bails happen to me quite alot, I guess skater likes to land there...or not
Most bones i've broken was 14, but those all have come from accidents, i haven't intentionally tried to break many bones....
Oh and bails in this game are very, very satisfying!
My highest amount of broken bones is 14 which i did after i fell off the mega ramp when i clipped those barriers on the side of it was a fun fall still have the reply i love slowing it down to slow motion and hearing the bones just break its disturbing but funny.
Hope Skate 2 is as good as the first one, though a question after you guys finished the Career mode if you have where do you mostly head during your freeskate? I
know i havn't completed that last challenge but thats because i dont want all those damn film challenges coming back up and always being there.
But anyway i usually just mess around in down town or the X-games just normal which is proberly what most of you do right?
I have this game and I love it, you can waste hours trying to perfect a certain trick or line, the one I still can't get is the kickflip under the rail at the school...everyone tries it.

Those bench bails are hilarious, couldn't stop laughing.

EDIT: Here are 3 clips I was going to use in my big Skate video, however these were the only 3 clips I managed to get from Skate Grab since it is crap and hardly ever works!

The one that took the most time to get right was the manuals on those circle things, you have to be so fast to land them and make it look good.
I brought this off ebay for £20, wow, what a game, not usually a fan of this type of game, but it's bloody awesome ,and VERY frustrating, but it has a serious "one more go" type of gameplay.

Little bit of footage I attempted to do

I loved the demo and have been wanting a copy for ages. I just wasn't sure about paying full price for it since I'm not normally a skateboard fan. The price on the GAME website recently went back up from £25 to £40 again too!
Maybe I'll take another look.
Same as me, I couldn't justify paying full price for it, so I got one from ebay, seem to be plenty of copies of it on there, £20 seems to be the going rate ATM, well worth a punt for £20 IMO.
Finally they've released a patch for this game (dunno when it was released... auto-update)! And... the lag is gone!
Is it available on PC?
No, 360 and PS3 only I believe.
It's not likely to get a PC release either. The control method means they'd need to either take advantage of the limited number of PC owners with a dual analogue pad or they'd have to totally rewrite it for mouse/keyboard.

I've stuck in some bids for copies on eBay but I don't think I'm likely to get it for £4 I'll grab it right away some point next week after I've been paid
Right, on the strength of these recommendations I picked a copy up on eBay last night. Not a bad £23 even if I do say so myself. With free delivery too.
Hopefully it'll arrive soon and I'll be able to, umm... "get some sick-rad air, dude" shortly after
Indeed, sick-rad air is quite satisfying dude (or is it dood?)
