Fern Bay Stutter!!
Last night was practicing offline on the longest Fern Bay configuration and came across a stuttering effect everytime the AI crossed the start / finish line!

It happens very quickly but is enough to throw you slighly off line when cornering. As far as i'm aware it only happens on the Fern Bay tracks.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Yes, it happens!

Everytime an AI car passes thru finish line, but in my case only in long configurations (more than 3 kilometers). I didn't asked SEV about that.

I tried to disable the option to record .spr files (even manually) but still happens. It seems that collect data from each AI and lap

That will be most likely the AI learning the track...

Thats what i first thought, but why then does it not do it anywhere else?
it probably does do it everywhere else, but the effect is not noticable. try it on KY GP Long to check?
I have a theory, but I dont know how accurate it is.

As I understand it, the FE tracks are close to their object limit (this includes all parts of the track, as well as user place-able objects). It could be on lower spec machines that this, combined with the extra culling required, having to do the extra physics calculations, and driving line calculations for the next lap is too much for the system to take.

To be honest, I've never really noticed...

sounds possible, i'll try it!

what do you call lower spec machine, i'm running athlon 3000xp 512mb ram and fx5900 128mb graphic card

Personally I'd call that reasonable. I dont want to be mean, and I know thats perfectly fine for playing LFS, but having never experienced this issue I can only guess that its an environmental thing affecting LFS. For reference my LFS box is an AMD64 3200 (slightly clocked), 1GB of RAM and a nvidia 6800 (256MB).

To clarify, I'd still call mine a reasonable machine.
i guess it boils down to how fast your hdd is rather than the rest of your pc
Perhaps. Surely it would depend on when the AI path / knw is written to the HD? I'd be surprised if it was per lap, rather than per race...
another thing that might be linked, do you lag out of a online server when they change track?

that is usually caused by a slow hard drive.
