Driving SO Long with FOX Default
What lap times are you able to get on SO Long using FOX with Default setup?

My PB is 1:39.820, which is 3.958s slower than the benchmark and 6.750s slower than the WR.

And could I get some advice on lines and setup as well? Replay attached (PB lap is lap 6). I'm trying to see if I can match the benchmark, or even try for the WR.

Are we allowed to use Race_set? Or does it need to be complete standar set?

As I'm trying to perfect my driving using Default, only Default please, no Race_S.

Once I'm consistently fast on Default, I'll start fiddling with setup.

Default - CRAP.

Race_S is a MUCH more stable setup to use.

Why waste your time using a setup that's just poor..?
I don't think you get any advantages by getting used to default.

Alright then, I'll go with Race_S. It's a bit oversteery, but I'm getting used to it.
samjh: press 4 on your keyboard it shows the perfect (almost) raceline, green is accelerate, red is brake, yellow is coast.
There's a pretty scrappy 1.35.49 with Race_S (nothing changed) and 9% fuel.

No, Sam Sam orange peel, both default and Race s suck, the people that tell you that sets only give you a couple of tenths advantage are talking rubbish.

My advice is to get a fast set for the respective track you are on from someone using the same controller as you then adjust it to suit.

This will take seconds of your lap times not tenths. Well this is just my opinion anyway Good luck
I've so far managed to shave off a consistent 1-0.5s off the lap time, just by tweaking the diff settings. There is still more room to tweak it, so I'm expecting under 1:38s once the diffs are right.

Then I'll work on suspension and drive ratios.

You're right, setup makes quite a difference, unlike some other racing games.
samj, I have been on LFS since 2005 and always have used the default setting and have used the FOX more frequently than any other car.
MY pB on South City Long is 1.41.75 so if you can record two seconds better, bully for you. I also drive on Automatic and more often than not, use the chase view.

Thanks Peejayh, that makes me feel a bit more confident about my LFS-driving ability.
screw the default sets, go with Bob Smith's Easy Race sets. even though they are out of date, they are awesome!

don't forget to play around with the wings too, there're instant seconds to be have there...

I forgot what're the wings setting on race_s, but I think it's pretty high~?
