Just bought a laptop (HP dv6617ed) with vista installed. My desktop and lfs-rig is windows xp. The laptop has a wireless card and my modem downstairs is wireless too. Can I get them to work both on internet and share files on a lan or will there be a problem between vista and xp?

(the laptop is for in-car tuning btw)

Yeah - they should just detect each other with no problems - the different OSes won't be an issue.

I say 'should' though as wireless networks can be a bit of a nightmare at times, but any problems will be instrinsic to any wireless network and won't be the fault of running different OSes.

Windows never had problems with interconnecting with each other. My two Dell servers running 2003 R2 never had issues connecting with my Rig running vista Ultimate.

it's just the laptop that's wireless btw
