Hello, I want ask as about pre-ordering S3 version. Unfortunately I do not find on forum no thread about it, so I want ask if there is or in nearest time there will be on your pages any possibility to pre-order S3. My friend has a credit card for paying on internet so I want send you 36 pounds at once with it, that when S3 will be released, my account will be automatically upgraded. Through your payment form is not possible send you more than 24 pounds. I don't care that S2 isn't finished yet and appropriate risk, that S3 won't be never finished I will undergo. Some users on forum have status S3 licenced, is that caused just right this, that they sent you money in advance? How?

Well, you can't exactly "pre-order" S3 but you can simply pay 12£ too much (like I did). These will stay on your account and can immediately be used as soon as S3 is released.

Well.. that means, that I will order Full S2 version for 24 pounds and then immediately I choose option in Buy Licence "If you want to buy LFS for someone else - Buy S1 -> S2 upgrade voucher £12" and on my LFS account will be +12 pounds?

no im afraid it only works that way if u use banktransfer
eg. u pay 36pounds to the devs by wiretransfer and instead of refunding u with 12pounds, its stays on your account till s3 is released, then u can instantly upgrade to S3

with a visa only the amount owed is payed..which would be 24pounds if u buy S2. But dont worry, u will have about 3years(do not lynch me if this number is not correct :P) to enjoy S2 and its upgrades before u have to worry about buying S3

It does work.
You will get a voucher, and you can activate it on any account. You can even use 200 vouchers on one account, but I doubt that the devs will release SO many stages

That is great, and validity time of that voucher? Can this fact be confirmed from devs ? Don't take it personal ORION, but I want be sure of that

(vicc) then use the voucher. The result is that your account is still s2 licensed, but you'll have +12 pounds on your account

this is also the page where you can use vouchers but if you would prefer to save the voucher itself so you can use it later on, that's fine too; there's no time-limit on keeping a voucher unused.

Number of available unlocks? whats that mean? if i format HD and have to re-install etc..?

the number of available unlocks is the number of times you can unlock S2 on your computer.

And remember, every first day of the month, this number is increased by one (you get an additional unlock), provided that you don't already have 2 unlocks available at that time.
So if you'd unlock S2 now, the number of unlocks would be decreased by 1. But the next first day of the month, you'll get an unlock back again, increasing it by 1.

Ah ok, thats quite bizzare way of doing it, is there a reason for it?

If i used them all up do i just wait till 1st of the month or do you have to purchase a code again?

It's to stop people sharing user IDs and if you ask Victor nicely he'd give you an extra one. Although I'm guessing this is providing you aren't constantly asking him and that you have a genuine reason.

I dont need an extra one mate, just wanted know why they didn't just let you enter your code as you please, you did buy it after all, but the system sounds pretty reasonable

It's just another way of doing things and it fits with the nature of our online mechanisms. We think it's a safer system than the usual serial code method.

And basically, yes, if you'd run out of unlocks you'd have to wait until the next month. But in reality, this rarely happens. You can get a new computer, unlock LFS on it, then because you may not be happy with the new installation of the new computer, reinstall the whole lot and unlock LFS again, without a problem. (or mail us about it when in trouble yes, but I prefer to keep that low profile. We're not out to get you, but don't want it to get out of hand either and yep, we do ask for a reason)

btw you can make backups, which results in not needing to unlock again
when I installed my WinXP on my comp, I installed only the vers important things such as the drivers, and LFS :]
So I can even rollback to a winxp partition without any programs installed - except lfs

(only works if you don't change any elementary hardware parts, though)

As people have said it, its like a pledge to the Devs. You pay in advance letting them know you are interested in the development of LFS and that you will stick around to see what happens.

As Vic said, when S3 is available, you account will "automatically" be upgraded, no waiting around, just download and go

One problem I see with too many people paying now for S3 is, this is the Dev's only income. So, Scawen would end up with way too fancy of a kitchen, then have no income when S3 comes out to fill it with food because he blew all the presale S3 cash on the latest and greatest garbage disposal .

(You new guys need to read the 19 page "progress report" thread to understand that.)
