just find the slickmod for your live for speed version and unzip the download to your live for speed folder. Then just start the program when live for speed is running, and join my game "slickmod"
dont have to spam to get people to join.. usually .. quite honestly that just drives people off because it makes you look psychotic/retarded or something freaky
Never, it's just sometimes hard to find people that are willing to download one file and race is all. And I love the game more then ever, and well after playing it for so long I'm just looking to put a small twist on it, and having other people to race would be cool.
Well I saw this post figured I'd try slickmod and came on the server. It was pretty fun but I was onlyone in there for the few minutes that I stayed, beside rabbi who was afk. I thought the slickmod was pretty neat.. It's easy to use since you dont have to backup anyfiles or anything and its fun, something different.
Yes-yes-jolly-good-but-what's-the-damn-point? How many threads have you started on this slick mod thingie? Do an ego check and practise some more with regular road tyres - you'll notice the slicks are not needed in road cars. Peace, love and bunnies!
ACtually slicks on road cars make them faster and it teaches you how to drive a better line. I have been on this game nostop on all the other tracks and cars, and have gotten so good to the point I need a little change. So yes I have played this game to death and now all I want is a little more choices in what tire I want to race with If you guys don't want to try it then it's your choice, I think the game is great the way it already is
I figure if I do then people will get the idea Since most people that join with the words slickmod do not understand what they have to do Man this game is too addicting......
Good to see people going nuts over LFS I don't see a problem with bumping a thread each time you put up the sever for a week or so, but it would be better kept to the events section, and don't make lots of threads
Alot of us used to have alot of fun with the slick mod in S1 days in the GTi, and I agree it can be good for something different, infact back then I used to find I'd do faster times when going back to normal mode after using the slick mod the mod just gave you a different perspective, because often you just end up getting in a rut and don't see any significant improvement for awhile so it is good to have a change every now and again
Another trick I learnt in the early days which works quite well, is if your doing consistent laps (can hit within a tenth or two of your pb most laps) but are stuck at a level and don't seem to be improving... try "over driving" for about ten to twenty laps i.e. brake latter and carry more speed into the corners than you normally do. After ten laps you may find that on some corners its possible to do abit better than what you previously thought just don't do it in a race (this tip is really for those that have already got good lines but are stuggling to improve there times beyond 1-3 sec of the WR times, it want help those with poor lines much )
I'll jump in with a few team mates some time, just got to get my internet connection sorted in the next few days though
Racing cars don't need ground effects but they use it because they make them faster. Just because road cars may be fun on road tires doesn't mean they caa be raced on slicks. I haven't tried the slickmod but with LFS's road cars they have basically got full race suspension and have no chassis flex whatsoever so my guess is they'd be more suited to slicks.
Yeah some of the cars are too sticky on slicks, and makes them too easy to drive fast. But then again it teaches you to drive a steady line the whole time, so then when you go back to normal tires, I can drive much more smoothly then before. But it can be a trip taking a xrg out on slicks and finding that even the slightest movement too much can make you flip, that's what I mean by teaching you how to drive steady, not saying you can anyway
I also find it fun to use the normal tires on my car, and then using the better tires on the AI cause it makes them much faster and competitive. I just raced with an xfg around feclub on normal tires, and the AI had r1 in front and back, I recommend anyone to try this too.
Right now I'm trying to train the ai to drive the FXR on the FE off road course with hybrid, and let me tell you it's really allot of fun.
Any car works great with any type of tire, I really do love the way the cars handle in this game without the mod too, this game really is a step above the rest in it's class
