SATA hard drives recognised as SCSI problem
Anyway, got 2 hard drives in my PC ATM:

one Samsung spinpoint and one Seagate Barracuda.

anyway the problem is this:

Windows see both of those as SCSI drives, and whenever I try to use a HDD diagnostic tool i.e. HD tune, Everest, even speedfan, I can only get S.M.A.R.T data from the samsung.

So what should I do?

In case I'd have to install the 3rd party sata driver( the one you are offerd to install via punching the F6 button when installing windows xp), can it be done without reinstalling windows from scratch?

thanks in advance and I hope I made my problem clear enough for you to understand....sigh..

And it's not like I need SMART,. but still...
I don't know how to solve your problem, but you wouldn't need to reinstall windows to install the correct drivers. That F6 option is only there because sometimes you cannot even INSTALL windows without the right drivers - but drivers are drivers and you can install/update them at any time.
