What do we think of Superleague Formula?
http://superleagueformula.com/

Basically, the idea is to get a car that's a bit like a ChampCar, stick a 4.2 litre V12 in the thing and paint them up in colours of football teams.

Going to get started in August, if it works I'm not sure who of the current teams I'd support.

I like the idea but look at the last time someone had a good idea (TRAC, anyone?)

Really the last I want is football fans at the track, even if they're just watching... Besides, it's not as though Ronaldinho or whoever will drive those cars, so why force that link?
don't like it eather! yeah the cars look great but i think that football fans will destroy our sport

if they are going to act like during football matches, we also need to change our freedom of walking around at paddocks an around track for sitting in cages to watch our sport. don't like it at all.
It is the European version of Champ Car....

Just like V8 Stars, A1GP and GP Masters it's another idea of what to do with large useless collections of highly expensive racing car parts (from previous failed one make series), it won't last and they'll soon be lying about the place again.

Does that include SpeedCar?

IIRC that was someones indigenous idea to ship the large number of unwanted stock cars used in the (failed) ASCAR series to become a support series for the Asian Grand Prixs? If so definitely yes
SpeedCar's race in Dubai was pretty pathetic. Makes me ashamed that Michael Schumacher was there They may learn a thing or two from NASCAR (completely serious statement). Just look at a NASCAR road course race and look at a SpeedCar race
I thought it was just a made up league for football clubs to use to sell more merchandise do the fans. The most I have heard or seen of it is each new obscure football teams car on their pitch with a couple of grinning shareholders standing next to it.
Lizard, I watched Speedcar race 2 at Dubai, it was rather interesting. I'm not sure if it was the cars or driving standards - I mean, 5 finishers

Champ Car relates to football how?

It's that the chassis is made by the same people an the DP01 and DP09 might be a bit/lot more similar than they are letting on.

I mean they are also top class formula one make race for a Continent...
CCWS = SLF
IRL ~ F1

Well, from someone who's watched a lot of stock car road course racing, the driving that took place was a bit outlandish if you know what I mean.

In my opinion, that awkward race was a combination of inexperience in stock car racing, and the cars themselves. Both the drivers and the series can learn a lot from NASCAR

Who makes it is pretty irrelevant. They're carbon tub single seaters that could be made by anybody, the fact Panoz builds both won't make a great deal of difference seeing as all modern single seaters are built virtually identically. The engines are very different, the Superleague car has a 4.2 litre V12.

I know the engines are different, but the SF unit will be excellent - it's looking at F1 power levels (or at least 2006 power levels) and should sound good. Shame for reasons I won't go in to I won't be able to go to Donington.

Yeah, they could learn some. I guess it's because they are used to European touring cars - lighter, sequential and less powerful rather than the big, powerful and heavy Speedcar stuff.
