But even if YOU/ME chose to drive carefully, it doesn`t mean some nabs behind will do it My point is that if the good drivers get wiped out by the bad drivers, should they have to wait too to get their car fixed?
I mean, if thats so it could be used as sabotage lol.
can you put this in another way? I really don't get you here (language issue, sorry).
Bob, do you see this? It's not about MONEY, even if you use the word more than five times in your next post. it's about wrecking your car an not being able to participate in the next race(s). Try thinking about the core of the idea, not the details and the names.
you wrecked your car -> you can't race (double meaning, ha)
you want to race? -> don't wreck your car.
maybe it even adds some thrill: you race your FXR at 7 p.m. and you mustn't wreck it because you want to participate in another big race at 9 p.m.
"ok, the suspension is a bit crooked... that'll be fixed until nine... oh noooooooo...."
"honey, let's go to the cinema tonight... my car is broken."
If you also experience pain when a clock runs late or when you can count less than 3 holes in a slice of cheese then you, sir, are a walking stereotype.
hey, Bandit77, I think your idea is just being tested - CTRA(?) servers applied that closing pits for some time, requiring some time to repair your car.
go and check that out!
But if you can apply it to your server I dont see the point to make such obligatory restriction.
crashes, accidents, laggy collision detection problems, etc all happen
They're a part of racing yes, but having to pay for fixing them afterwards, or even the notion of starting a race with less than 100% repaired car is ridiculous
No one ever makes enough money racing to support their car...so how about this
For any car that is able to be raced at the club level, you have to work a 9-5 job at the office to pay for towing, gas, parts, pit crew, tires, and repairs...if you get fired for being late or not showing up too many times..YOU'RE FIRED and your s2 license gets revoked until you get a new fake job
For the pro level cars like f1 and the gt classes, you have to whore yourself out to your sponsors doing ridiculous tv commercials so you can race the next weekend.
The far better way in the end to put off wreckers is a rating system like the chess rating systems.
These sorts of systems start people off at a set point score, say 1000. The start score represents the average driver.
At the end of the race you score is adjusted up/down based on where you place and where you were expected to place due to the other drivers ratings. A DNF would count as everyone else ahead of you so a real big penalty, to make people WANT to finish a race.
This would let server admins set a min rating they will allow to join.
This would temper people T1 and for wreckers, they would soon end up with a rating down in the toilet and would never be able to join a server that was rating locked.
Trouble is noobs would also suffer the same until they became more consistent in their driving.
Exactly like in real life? Can't remember last time a racer had to worry about repairing his car! In real life racers do have a crew, a manager and other staff members who should worry about repairing cars and stuff, the racer should only worry about finishing races and winning races!
As you can see this idea is quite discussable, the Racers-Squad is splitted here and therefore I don't think, that this will make it's way to S3!
Another thing is, how to attach this to the demo? Should this be an license-only feature?
In my opinion it's an idea everyone should think about, but nothing more, I would not want this feature to be in s3 or any other version of lfs! As already said, think about those crashes caused by lags, think about those crashes caused by noobs, because they haven't learned yet to break in time.
And as soon as any sort of currency make it's way to a game, you will be able to buy accounts on ebay.
Although I will accept that I am pretty freaking ignorant most of the time I do know that, for example, Gruyère doesn't have holes, but Emmentaler better have some otherwise the wrong fungi got in it and they didn't fart enough. Of the two, Emmental is more known to the rest of the world and is often dubbed "swiss cheese" - hence the stereotype of "swiss cheese" being synonymous with "cheese with holes" despite other countries having perforated cheeses in larger percentage to their non-perforated ones.
All of the above of course has a direct connection to incorporating an RPG element in LFS.
you know, at first I thought "how impressive". but then I thought "wikipedia"... where gruyère is the second cheese mentioned. But hey, even if you just looked it up: you learned something.
There's also a slice of it in my fridge along with some parmesan and some cheddar I decided to mature before eating - I also have some decent stilton and am freshly out of roquefort. And that's only the imported cheeses I got in there, I have a wide selection of greek cheeses as well. The only other swiss cheese I've tasted at a friend's house (she's swiss) is appenzeller (sp?) and her family had sent that - wasn't able to find such around here, and I pretty much consider the gruyère a lucky find.
It's not so much that I like cheese very much as that I like wine. I find the gruyère is excellent with some malbec wine although the valpolicella I had with some of it wasn't bad at all despite it being a totally different variety in character to the malbec.
I "Don't mix the tiny world of professional racing with the huge (relatively) world of moneyless club racers"! I just don't think, that there are "club racers" who actually have the money to drive own f1 cars or dtmcars or whatever!
And btw. dealing with a currancy shouldn't be a part of a racing simulation!
To keep on with the cheesiness, that is one fine list of cheeses they had in that skit, especially in the part that Cleese starts spitting out cheese names in rapid succession.
You'll be surprised - there are quite a few people who buy old f1 cars. I think I've seen "leagues" they've made too. No one said there are many many of them, but they're certainly more than the professional racers of the "I got mechanics and tyres and everything at my disposal" level.
appenzeller is also a good liquor... with herbs, somehow sweet and sticky, but very strong. not as strong as your (inofficially sold) tsipouro though. good stuff.
Of course there are club F1/DTM owners, and most run them virtually on their own - maybe with two or three helpers. Yes, there are club racers with team hierarchy (managers, crew, drivers etc) but they are few and far between.
