Hello drivers!
Most of what I want to remind you of was already covered in the Drivers' Meeting for the test race and the Post-Race Analysis. However, there are a few issues I'd like to refresh.
1. Naming. In the test race we had to repeatedly remind drivers of the correct name format, so here it is one more time:
xx <--Number, in white. Should have a leading zero if it's a single digit. Leading zero is not required on the skin.
Space
First Initial
Period
Full Last Name
So, for example: 01 B.Keough
The first initial, period, and last name maybe colored in any way you like, though we request that all teammates have the same color scheme so that they may be easily identified.
2. SC Period Behavior. We cannot emphasize this one enough. The enjoyability of this league is really made or broken by how people behave behind the safety car, so if we find that your team cannot handle behaving in a reasonable manner, you may be asked to leave the league.
Given the issues two weeks ago, we ask that you space yourselves out even more during the SC periods in this race. We will give you a warning with plenty of time to spare when we're going green next time by. So, until that warning is given, space yourselves so that there is NO CHANCE of contacting another car. There's really no reason to bunch so closely together. Once the warning is given, please bunch CAREFULLY to the suggested 2 car-length buffer.
3. New/Edited Rules. Please re-read the series rules in advance of the race, paying particular attention to the new and edited rules as highlighted in the rules thread here. There is no excuse for not knowing a rule. If you're uncertain as to the legality of something while driving in-race, ask a teammate via TS/Vent/Skype to look it up for you.
4. Respect Your Fellow Drivers. This series is run for your enjoyment, and enjoyment is predicated on respect. Everyone's going to get frustrated at some point during this season (hell, probably at some point during this race), but frustration should not lead to abuse, rough driving, or uncivil arguments. These are long races, so there is no need for risky or desperate moves. If you lose the chance to make a pass, chances are that if it was earned you'll have the chance again down the road. Be smart and be safe, and I'll bet that the number of SC periods drops dramatically.
5. Wind. This round will be run with low wind. As you all probably know, "low wind" in LFS ranges from about 5 to 18mph, and tends to change direction to some degree during the race. For those of you practicing tonight, I recommend that you do several long runs with low wind on, to get a feel for how the car responds. This throws an element of randomness into the race, so you must be prepared for it.
Most importantly, have fun out there. That's what we're here for.
