Thanks everyone - I was running a dedicated server on my PC that I connect to and thats why the mod wasn't working.

By running the host interactively (i.e. with graphics) it works perfectly
Great mod. I love running these three - smoke, slick and pitspotter.

Once again, install the mod, and just add some AI. I'm not trying to be an A$$, but it's probably coming that way, my apologies.
i have to admit - i really love the smoke-mod! it's almost, how it should look like in the final game - especially with the new textures (very ncie ones btw.)

No problem But AIs either drive like by rails or one of them gets off the track quickly. Also they consume a bunch of CPU resourses (even on my athlon xp 2600+ i can get only about 35 fps with 11 AIs and min graphix), too much to record a normal video.

Anyway, i've raced with smoke intensity 25000 against 11 AIs, that's very cool! The dust stays long above the road!
Im using the Smoke mod with the new textures, but I dont seem to be getting as much smoke on the tarmac as on the Dirt. A car has to pretty much do a standing burnout before i see any real smoke (but then there is lots and it looks nice), drfiting around a corner/locking up the tyres dosent seem to make any smoke at all. If a car goes slightly onto the dirt it kicks up alot of dirt though.

I have smokeDensity=6000.0

any ideas?

It's the same for me. I just figured that I have my settings on LFS wrong so the smoke won't show. When I drift there is never any smoke at all.
Any Idea what the setting in LFS might be? I have all settings maxed i think..
Looks like in LFS there is always more dust and dirt than smoke, but it's quite real: you need tyre to overheat and burn to see smoke, while it's very easy to throw a lot of dust into the air.
Experiment with the smoke LOD slider
Yeah , turned the mod off and went back to original , turns out i was imagining the amount of smoke that you got with unmodded S2. It makes sense that loose dirt would generate more dust than two smooth surfaces like tyre and road.

Great mod. I love the excitment of seeing "Yellow Flag" and belting through a giant zero visability dust cloud at 185mph on Kyoto Ring in an FO8

the default 60000.0 (i think), tried a very large number but i got like 4 fps when some one did a burnout lol, i like to have AA & AF so i wont be doing that again

I'm not sure why people are discussing Kegetys' other work in this thread, but anyway...

I like the smokemod, the new default setting with the original tyre textures is very cool. The new textures I'm not keen on though, tyre smoke looks a bit better, but when do you ever see it during racing? However the dirt and gravel dust looks nowhere near as real as the originals (IMO) and I see them alot during racing. So originals for me.
This slickmod has prob. it ran ok but HEAVY stuttering...... on XP 64 bit
can you do a 0.5P7 version too?
Its too much work to update it for test patches as their "lifetime" doesn't tend to be very long.

some one needs to host this online, RB4 with slicks is seriously cool.

i have set few times a slickmod server, but never anybody joined
and i have also just space for 7-8 players or game gets laggy.
Can slickmod be updated to the new Patch Q?

I will be using another computer in my house as a dedicated server often and would like to use slickmod for cars like LX6, RAC, and FZ5.
