Bank charge help please :(.
Afternoon all . I wonder if anyone here can help the problem is this. I have been direct debited twice for the same thing and as a result of this i have now gone over my overdraft limit.
The bank are going to charge me £35 and a Unauthorised Overdraft Charge of £28.00 which is £63 in total.
Now i dont think i should have to pay these charges as it was not my fault. what should i do about this please can somebody help this is the first time i have been over my overdraft and i really dont have the money to pay them the charges.
Go to your bank, and speak to them in person. Wear nice clothes, be VERY polite, and you'll probably get away with it. If you can prove it wasn't your fault.

Why did you get Direct Debited twice? I'd contact the people who's fault it is, and then ask for them to refund you the overdraft etc - i'd also ask the bank the same thing.

If it is an error with the DD, then you should be covered by the DD agreement by the bank.
Phone them and speak to them.

If it is actually your fault, then try and plead the case that this is the first ever time you have gone overdrawn and that it was an honest mistake. They may credit back the charges as a gesture of goodwill.
Bank charges caused by overdrawn accounts from DD is such a con

With computer technology tell me why it isn't possible for a DD to verifiy that there is enough cleared funds before it debits your account? The whole idea of banks debiting your accounts for amounts you dont have then charging you for it is just soo wrong imo what do they take us for complete twats...

If you can avoid having any DD setups don't do it, rather just setup internet banking and do the transfers yourself then you will never be charged and you are in complete control of your cash flow.

Alternatively, insist that they remove the penalty charge from your account and threaten to close your account if they don't. Chances are they'd rather lose the £28 than lose a customer - it works for me every time.
Went in a hour ago and they told me they cancled both charges as a "good will jesture" ROFL what a load of shite and hassle atleast its all sorted i hope
