Looking for rF mod, any help?
Hey all, I found my old rF install, patched it up to 1.2.5.5F, and I'm trying to find a mod I lost, it had two Group C style prototyes, a BMW and a Porsche as classes, any ideas?

I've looked on rFc and found nothing, Niko hasn't got a clue, just wondered if any of you people have?

DK
That is it, I think

Thanks

/me goes off to download mods and tracks...

Suggestions? (Apart from the 'Ring and C6)

DK
Thanks

SCC mod here I go...

Is the V8Factor any good?

DK
The BMW e21 is quite fun to drive
The Porsche 914 is quite nice car too (thx ajp for mentioning this!)
Then there are the V8 supercar mod, maybe the caterhams and then the Zonda mod is imho quite acceptable car for a high power GTR

All the "official" ISI content is imho crap. Some people like the F1 1955 mod but I think that is crap too .

I think I forgot few but those are quite good. As for tracks, maybe I'll post a comprehensive list later

V8Factor is a seriously bad joke, from the gfx to the physics. Even their V8 mod for F1C was far far better than the rF version. It's truly horrific, IMO.. but I had months of fun with the F1C version.

Why do you say that? From reading the comments, it /seems/ to be a well put together mod

There was a massive discussion thread on RSC about the physics and how crap they handled. They just didn't feel like I'd imagine them to and nowhere near like they did in F1C, which really were a pleasure to drive.

The gfx are just thrown together. If you look at the cubemapping for example.. it uses a severely fscked up custom map that produces a horrible washed out appearance (don't get me wrong, over-saturated colours don't look realistic either, but v8factors are horrid.. at least in DX8) and the cubemap has no UV mapping as far as I can tell, or if it does, it's just horrible stretched along the length of the car making it just look crap.

I make these comments from a disappointed PoV. After enjoying their F1C mod for 6 months or so, I was looking forward to the rF version, but alas, it lasted 3 days before I decided it was just wasting space that I could be using for something else, like a larger recycle bin that I never use

Some people love it (especially the Aussies).. but IMO, that's more down to the fact there's little competition.. which is a shame as I love the Aussie V8 series

Do you have a link to that thread?

RSC is dead atm I dont think that google has much, if any of it cached either.

short one regarding their (latest) 1.1 patch.

longer one

I guess at the end of the day, the best way to find out would be to download and try it, but for me, it was extremely disappointing.

Everyone has their own tastes too, so you may find that you really enjoy this regardless... but regardless of the above threads, I found them not to feel like heavy V8 monsters, but slippery, uncontrollable pigs made worse on tracks such as bathurst where there's extreme camber / elevation changes that unsettle the car even more.. just seemed that no matter how I feathered the throttle, I was doing a doughnut in seconds and then the tyres were fried.

I think the icing on the cake was their attitude in pretty much thinking / saying that their mod was "perfect" (or at least didn't seem to accept there may well be flaws).

In short, as unrealistic as it was, I had much more enjoyment driving GMSF's front engined 911s.

Unfortunately, all the meshes for v8factor are encrypted too, so I couldn't even fix the gfx flaws for personal use, thus pretty much said bollox to it.... there's plenty of other mods available, some of high quality that filled my need for enjoyment
