That's the result of Fly-by-wire throttles and ECU managed Fuel injection systems. To be fair though even CV carbs do this, as they will only open the fuel flow up to the levels as dictated by the rpm of the engine, (as they're vacum controlled). Whereas good old flat slides are literally opened as much or little as you open the throttle.
A bit like the original version of the Airbus, a computer was programmed to only allow what were considered "safe" combinations of throttle, flaps etc, thereby limiting the dynamic envelope of the plane. Ironicaly it actually caused the death of a whole plain load of people in South America when the plane refused to accept the pilots inputs, (to their full affect), and so the plane crashed in to the side of a mountain rather than missing it.
And like the old airshow one that "landed" in the trees that they called pilot error
The fly by wire works off 3 computers made by 3 different manufacturers, each given a spec to implement. The 3 comps then vote on every input and decide what can and can't be done. There is no manual override as far as I know.
Bloody stupid really as sometime you need the pilot to take an "unsafe" risk that might cause stress damage to a plane to save lives.
Only RWD cars can drift. A 4WD can drift only if the power bias is set way towards the back (although no one in their right mind would bother as 4WDs are boring). FWD cannot drift. Never have, never will.
I think FF in its own way can drift, but only on certain corners. I don't consider holding up the hand brake and ass dragging drifting though. Some of the corners in the replay were ok.
Well if it looks like drifting, it must be drifting . I'm a drifter and I have done what I would consider a drift in a fwd. It feels pretty much the same while doing it, but using slightly different techniques and it was fun.
Maybe in your opinion atlantian it may not be drifting, technically you may be right, but my experience tells me different.
i just find it excrutiating to just sit in the driver seat and have it slide... it feels sureal(and boring)... not fun at all.... it feels like someone else is driving and you are out of control... that's what i hate about FF drifting.
You don't have to be in a Mini to be able change the slip angle of your rear tyres by modulating the throttle. I can do it in my Clio. Just a small lift while cornering does the trick fine.
Besides atlantian is 100% right, of course. I mean, anybody knows that there's more truth in large bold red letters than in small black ones -- It's the same with cars and speed.
