I'm surprised no one has suggested this yet. Run a scan with some of the spyware scanners and check for spyware. Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster, etc. A really good one I've found was PestPatrol. It found 800 or so items on a community work computer after all the others were run. Also, it would probably be a good idea to run a defrag. Funny thing with my brand spankin new computer, when I turned it on for the first time and set it up, the hard drive was 19% fragmented before I touched anything other than the initial setup stuff.
I'd kinda assumed he would have done all that after we all sudgessted he do some house keeping . . . but as the sayiung goes, never assume anything . . .
ATI drivers ONLY have issues with HT or Dual core system, this SHOULD be fixed with the 6.2's whenever they decide to turn up.

Dan,
Just that you can compare the perfomance...

I have AXP 2200+ 1.8 GHz, 1 gig ram and 9500 Pro (currently with 5.11 drivers) and can still run LFS with 4xFSAA/4xAF. Almost with the highest settings, unuseful things like trees in mirrors are turned off. I think I'll get 30-70 (average being 40-50 maybe) depending on the situation, but on the start when there's 19 cars on the screen it goes to something 10-20 fps.

Quote from HugeF1 :Hi, I am having trouble setting up the graphics, so this game will run smoothly on my machine.
First of all my specs

1.5 GHz
768MB Ram
Radeon 9600 Pro

When I run on my own, with the default graphics setup, the FPS is about 30-40. When I add even one AI car or a mate online, then the FPS drops to 5-10 and it's impossible to play. I have tried reducing all the details to 0 but it doesn't seem to have any real effect. Another thing, what does LOD stand for? It doesn't seem to make any difference if I change
User LOD, Dust LOD or Mirror LOD.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, HugeF1.

I see you have the same graphics adapter as i do (ati 9600pro).
Do you play gtr,gtl too? If you do, do you have any problems in the menu of the game? Mine locks and i have to reboot the pc.I was checking the forums for any help on this matter and it seems as there's a problem with ati cards playing these two games...
If you do and if you solved the problem(if you had one) please let me know what to do.

Thanks

Jan
For GTR/GTL probs you might want to check rscnet.org forum's GTL and GTR sections. There might be more people with the same problem.

Agree with deggis, but I will respond anyway since I've been checking out the forum over there wishing I could run GTL to try it. I read on RSC's forum that by either disabling or enabling (can't remember which way off hand) fast write for ati cards, it helps with the menu lockup.
To answer the question, no I don't have either. The demos just didn't do anything for me. Unlike LFS
