Moto GP Night Race Tonight!
Preview - BBC2 - 14:10-14:30
Race - BBC3 - 19:30-21:00
Highlights - BBC2 - 00:00-01:00

So, whos watching it? Never been into it but everyone seems to go on about how good it is so i might have to tune in tonight.
I always watch MotoGP, last nights qualifying was very exciting, Stoner on the 2nd row, who'd have thunk it, that an the only Brit in MotoGP in 2nd, bloody marvelous.

Hopefully it will be a top race, BTW, I prefer Eurosports coverage, I find the commentators better that the BBC.

As an aside, if you want more, and arguably more exicting, motorcycle action, check out the WSBK and WSS races.
Also, 125ccs and 250ccs will be show on 301, 302 or 303 - or by pressing red and going through the menu on whichever BBC channel is showing the egg chasing. 5pm WET start, I think.

As for the only Brit in MotoGP ... with Bradley Smith doing well in the 125s I think we have a potential good rider there. Lets hope he gets a 250cc seat next year.
Season start and I'm missing it, our man in 250cc is starting from 4th place after all. Screw you Finnish defense forces.

I meant top class of MotoGP, of course Braders is doing top in 125GP, his first pole I believe, and also Danny Webb is doing well, and the Irish Eugune Laverty in 250GP too

Isn't the top set of technical regulations just called MotoGP? They were 500cc 2-stroke, then they changed to 1 litre 4 strokes (renaming it MotoGP) and one or two years ago went down to 800cc 4 stroke, right?

I'll be tuning in, nice to have a Brit who actually seems to be doing quite well for a change. Shame they had to go for this night racing nonsense as well. Getting up at silly hours is all part of watching live race from the other side of the world
Eurosport's commentary team just seems better to me...don't get me wrong, I don't mind Charlie Cox, but Toby and Julian just make MotoGP for me

Here's hoping Stoner wins
Any Canadians in the race?
Poor Talma! He was the leader when his bike f***ed up 5 laps before the end of the race...so he finished 12th
first German podium since 04 in the FIM World Championships
WE LOVE BRADL

but he was the only german for today

*me supports Rossi*
Yeah i watched the race too... Talma was very good, till his piece of junk motorbike screwed his whole race. No problem, many races will come, and Talma will win again!!!

Was only able to watch live timings but what a great result for James.

Stoner is still miles and miles away from the rest and so far away from his team mate it's untrue. I hope when they come back to europe everyone will be closer to Stoner, watching him pull out a massive lead race after race isn't that exciting.

I know he is a great racer but I'd love to know why he is so much faster than everyone and light and day between his team mate on the same bike. I have read stuff saying he basically gets in into the turn then nails it, letting the traction control work out the rest.

If that really is true then, meh, I dunno.
A good race. I still don't get the point in the lights though.

If that really worked everyone would do it. Obviously he has a different technique; one that is not so obvious and heaps and heaps of talent.

Never really got into bike racing myself - I don't know what coverage we get over here (when we actually do get coverage, usually tape-delayed by quite a while afaik) but the announcers sounds so... boring. Even when they get excited, it just doesn't come through like some other announcers. Kills the experience for me.
last year i think the power difference of the ducati made some of stoners achivements look average, watching that race tonight showed me he really is that good grats to him, (but i still hope rossi shows him a thing or 2 soon) james was awesome aswell. as were the british guys in the 125cc races
Like last year he wasn't the only one on a Duke, its about time people gave him the credit he deserves .

If it was bike alone Melandri, Caparossi (Spelling) etc etc would be beating Casey for one and be miles ahead of the rest of the pack....

Right man right tools..

The good thing about this race showed thats theres plenty of competition to come and it wont be a season just between Casey and Valentino .

Just need Ant West to get cranking now (he seems to ride well when theres a contract at stake...)
well like with any form of motor sport you will always get number 1 and 2 riders and teams, but no doubt the boys good
its just last year there was such a difference in straight line speed it was silly
I rekon if you took away the electronics Rossi would be dominating again. The new generation are taking over though, they seem able to work with the new bikes which are much more fogiving than the old machines. I'm glad Stoner is showing he does have talent, it might justify him mouthing off in the press. Lorenzo is a dick, fast, but an arrogant lollipop sucking ****, so I hope he gets beaten a lot. JT was great, I really hope he wins the championship when they give him a better bike and he has more experiance. Dovi deserves everything he has right now, he was stuck on awful bikes in 250 and is proving himself now, I rekon he is a future friend of Rossi's.

I liked how the 3 guys on the podium don't like each other, I don't think any of them will ever be as popular as riders like Rossi, Melandri, Caparossi, Toseland..etc. Although if Stoner lightens up a bit and takes less digs at people in the press he could be popular. The racing was good though, I liked the whole look of the night race and I expect it was a fantastic atmosphere at the track.
Whats with the lollipops? is he sponsored by Chupa Chup?

Makes him look like a gimp,as for Casey firing shots off in the press if you were to hear day in day out that the only reason you win was because of the bike you would be pissed too.

Attack any ones credibility and there will be words, let alone riders/drivers that have massive ego's that are massaged 24/7.

Last years Duke was quick in a straight line now no doubt, but i cant remember all of last tracks being 1/4 mile drag strips? Surely there was corners and braking involved as well not to mention racecraft

They dont keep handing out rides if you have no talent.
Quote from Clownpaint :The night racing aspect wasn't anything to shout about apart from viewing times.

Gave a good image what to expect from Singapore GP later this year... unfortunately it wasn't that special. It just felt stupid. Endurance racing is of course completely different deal, where they are actually driving in dark, only with car lights and from day to night, not because of tv viewing.
Quote from richo :Whats with the lollipops? is he sponsored by Chupa Chup?

Yes.

I thought the night race thing was okay. It wasn't anything more than a simple curiosity, but it was interesting and I don't think it detracted from the event in any way so I won't mind if they do plenty more in the future.
I think JT did BLOODY well considering he was on last years bike, with spring valves, less bhp and thirstier too, I can only imagine just how good he will be when Tech 3 get the pnuematic valver as per Rossi and Lorenzo.

Other things that stood out, Lorenzo, I knew he would be good, but he has surpassed my expectations, also Dovizioso, outstanding performance considering he was on a customer Honda.

Also, Where did Pedrosa come from?, it's almost like he was sandbagging in practice and qualifying, and what the hey happened to Melandri?, man I reckon there were some f's stuck into him in the Ducati garage after the race.

All in all, this years chamionship is looking TASTY, as for the night race, not much of a change from normal, but man did those bikes look tasty under the flood lights, especially the Desmo
My question is should Rossi have stuck with the Michelin tyres?
Or are Bridgstones better suited to his Yamaha with higher track /air temperatures which we'll probably get during the normal day races...
