Intel Racing Tour: Markus Gunzelmann wins!
Over the last year, racers tried to qualify for the German Intel Racing Tour, and today was the big day: The best 10 drivers met at the "Cebit" to fight for the big prize at the Intel Racing Tour Finals: A BMW Z4 M

After a very chaotic race, with several safty car phases, Markus Gunzelmann of the #low-racing Team was able to take the win!
Second place goes to Theo Lass, driver of pod and third place goes to Patrik Burleson.

Congratulation Checkyyy ! :-)
pics, vids and mpr plz k thx
I am very curious about the replay. Because that 'funny SC stuff' screwed my race and due to some people who closed their eyes just
when this happend I had no chance in winning this car.

Vince and I were driving 1 and 2. During a SC procedure Vince was told he had to move to end of grid, probably because they thought he hit Steffen Stanger in first corner, but it seemed that Steffen hit the curb and spun, not because Vince touched him.

Then I was in 1st pos. for 12 laps (in between few SC situations). Then in lap 12 again SC situation. Whole field put together again.
Then safety car went in and we got green flag. I just waited with going on throttle because everyone has to stay behind me till start/finish (as usual), but at the moment the green flag came up everybody just passed me before s/f. Nobody said anything about it, only that they didn't saw it :S

How screwed can you be?
After hearing the complete story I can only say that the whole thing smells very fishy to me... "unlucky" Jero and Vince...
Just watched the stream and I gottasay it looks a bit over dramatic, the first safety car comes out because a car spun out? He was back on the track within 10 seconds...

If you were last and quite far behind it would only take a little spin to bring out the safety car and get you back in the race again.. :/

As for the start, looks like in all the starts you get the better of the rest of them so they all just went as soon as they saw the green flag and because no one else slowed down they didn't either.

I was enjoying the fight for third position to untill the stream cuts away to watch Checkout driving around the oval....
Ok, I was given a link but told not to make it public so i'll upload it elsewhere, it will take some time as the file is 350mb but i'll edit the link into this post later.
Unlucky Jeroen, I watched the stream and it did look as if everyone got a head start on you, but I don't think theres much more anyone can do now.

Well done to Markus, don't drive silly in it cause it will kill ya

Congratulations Orgi on 2nd mate - or should that be commiserations on missing out on the Z4 by one place
Under normal circumstances...Steffen would have won it so easily...but after those collisions from some drivers (who know who i mean) everything went totaly chaos...

e.g. on the "proper" racestart i got overtaken by i think it was you jero on the inside of the track (cutting) which was forbidden aswel

But as you can hear it when Markus crosses the finish line...i was shouting in the background there "Markus du geile Sau!"
Had a quick look at the stream and Jeroen was actually pushed onto the inside kerbing there Theo

I'd still like to see some .mpr of it though, it's so hard to actually see what you want to on the stream, like when it's following the safety car into the pits when the field have just restarted...
ill post the replay as soon as i have it. its sad that it seems impossible to organize a good race with 10 people after 1 year of preparation
Thanks for uploading the stream Bawbag!

Like Jeroen said, We were driving 1st and 2nd after safetycar untill I got told to move to the back of the grid, because they said I took out Steffan. This basicly ment race over for me.! And me driving with to much anger in me for the following laps...

Even tho it's hard to see on the stream, it was not me that made Steffan spin, but the 2nd curbstone just threw his car around. Resulting him to spin and me getting a penalty

Feel sorry for Jeroen who basicly lost the race after that because of the Saftecar incident.

Anyway congratulations to Markus who drove consistant and stayed out of any troubles.

Quote from Belain :Under normal circumstances...Steffen would have won it so easily...

i wont sign that. after the practice session i thought jero will have the best chances. under "normal circumstances" we would have seen a close race. i guess it would have been jero, closely followed by steffen and vince and an "underdog" doing a good race and waiting for his chance.

imo this race has been one of the worst ever with kinda destruction-derby plus stop&go-action what wasnt really neccessary. u really saw the tension and nervousness of racers and admins.

actually i didnt care before the race who might win. i had no personal favourite and just wanted to enjoy and see the successor of danny engels. very disappointing race with an end i wont wish someone, especially not jero.

anyway, grats here again to everybody who things he deserves it

last but not least, andy priaulx is a cool guy
Quote from n1lyn :ill post the replay as soon as i have it. its sad that it seems impossible to organize a good race with 10 people after 1 year of preparation

See Nils, i actualy asked the Orga there right before our first warmup session, if they had any kind of "backup plan" if anything goes wrong.
And they replied with "no, we're doing this for 2 years and never had any problems".

Same thing with the time schedule...i asked before the drivers meeting if we are going to stick to it...and they said there will be no delay at all....

Apart from the very awful race (i guess everyone had), the organization was just xxxxed. IMHO

Did the people who organised the event and the people who gave out the penaltys (For example the one penalised Vince) even have any experience with racing or LFS itself?

The first time I saw the stream you can see it's the dodgy Kyoto kerbs that caused Steffan to spin and it would only take 30 seconds for someone to check the replay instead of just putting 2 and 2 together.

The safety cars were also a bit of a concern too because it looked although they were only using the safety car to bunch the pack up and give some exiting racing, only once I saw a SC situation when Steffan's car was stuck in the sand and he got up and left.

Very sad really, probarly the biggest event in LFS with the best prizes and it ends like this. :/

Jay, I don't think anyone deserves to win a BMW just for driving in LFS, especcially when they are worth so much... I wouldn't say no though.
What program are people using to watch the video Bawbag posted? Using VLC the video is extremely choppy and pretty much unwatchable. My PC is pretty crap, but I don't usually have any problems watching videos on here.

ah good then it wasn't only me. i switched from vlc to windows media player there it runs fine.

regarding the broadcast: i did expect a lot more from the grand finale, the whole thing looked unprofessional and not very well organized, surely not the thing i expect from such a big tournament.
the first season was much more better

this whole thing with vince and jero was really unlucky .. :sorry:
but well, i still have to say gratz to markus
