at my secondary school they have filtered almost everything, u type in v-tec or live for speed or somthing it may come up with that its on the porno filter list, or the school filter list, the school has filtered Lfs Forum, poxy's do not work, no proxys
Is there any way around this?
changing the domain name by going to co.nr and doing that would the html on the real site or somthing still block it,
any idea's? .. anything is worth a try, within reason.
Unlucky for you. This is about the only forum that isn't banned at my school. And if your filter is even half decent, then there's no way round it. Trust me - people at my school have tried
Only certain threads on this forum are filtered at my school. insane i swear the ict techintion at my school plays lfs and uses the forum. Cause only threads with lots of swearing are filtered lol.
ATM at School I use the teacher proxy (the proxy settings that teachers use - most things unblocked) and then for the odd thing that doesn't work I use a proxy setup by some cunning lads from the School down the road (which i wont link to as i don't want it to go!)
Works at my school fine..They have Myspace, Facebook, Youtube and couple other sites blocked...But that site works perfect..And im glad they didnt block the lfsforum or i'd be highly pi*sed!
Whilst you're using a free and open proxy consider this; If you're running all your data through their servers, then you're also running any usernames and passwords through them. Many open proxies are specifically available for these means.
Also bear in mind that websites and services are blocked for specific reasons and by circumventing any block is likely to land you in more trouble, should you be caught.
Back when I was at school they used a filter that was linked to Southampton University. The problem was everyone knew how to turn it off, you just had to untick one box in the internet options. I guess these days its a little more complicated than that. My advice is talk to the people in your class, they are real and you might actually be able to have sex with them (of course only if they are 16 or over) .
Like Jakg said, just setup a simple proxy server. Hell, back when I had highspeed I'd set up a proxy server on my home connection, and just access it from school VIA I.P addressing. Worked like a charm, I got lovely speed, and decent latency. It was practically un-traceable, and wasn't hard to setup and take down (Simple changes to FF proxy settings)

Just remote into your computer at school with mstsc or other service, and violla, you're on your own PC, and can have all the fun you want
Your home IP is surely not blocked. If the school computer is super-restricted with 'safe' software, it is still possible to get a remote connection by other means.
At my school, we have a filter that blocks a lot of things. The only place it fails is with https links, so I simply use LogMeIn to Connect to my home PC, and do all I please that way.
Yeah i do, i skate around school play good old buldog, anything that appeals to us, i dont go to library at break times.. :P unless i forgot to do homework.
I finnish I.C.T work or work in lessons computer room quikly anyway, so it would be nice to check up on posts from my school and to look up lfs forum in my spare time to waste. :P
My school has a teacher proxy, im not sure how to get on it, i think its password opperated and as cool as soem teachers are they wont let us have it lol.
whenever to teachers blocked the proxy he simply changed the site name and so we could rome free, and then hthe school took away our internet :| so we couldnt do anything, so we have limited choice.

The block we had at school used to be avoidable if you looked at the site through a webpage language translater, but then it was updated and it doesn't work anymore, plus you cant use any links on the site. :P
Meh the website i use actually copies the site exactly but shows it through the adress you put in, which shouldnt be blocked and you can watch videos on youtube etc through it.

was i the only one whos filtering system was shite and could easily get round it by using the IP address instead of an actual address? and if it was swearing or porn, go onto one of those sites which translate it into 1337 speak or whatever.
