Cheap & Easy Cockpit additions
Hi everyone,

I've been racing using my wooden cockpit for a while now and I seem to be getting a little bored with the state its in now. Does anyone have any suggestions that I can do to this to make it look/feel a bit better? Please keep them cheap and easy to do, I don't really have access to power tools so nothing extensive.

Cheers,
Jack

Well, I don't know how cheap 'cheap' is, but with a joystick you could add a handbrake fairly easy enough. Maybe even add a spring to make it a little harder to pull on Just a thought.
A clean and a lick off paint will make it a little nicer to be in

If your up for modding your wheel, things like frex kits, and displays could be a good addition.
you could always by a small lcd panel for £5 and set that up for a gear indicator...

Do they make FREX kits for a G25? If so, i'd love a Momo wheel on this thing!

Just spoke to the parents and it turns out they're going to the nearest retail park tomorow, so its time for a trip to halfords .

I'm thinking about getting some replacement pedal plates, some seatbelt pads (the harness rubs against my shoulders and after a while they begin to hurt) and maybe a new shifter knob.

No no Frex kits for the G25. Why not replace your crappy G25 shifter for the SST Lightning shifter or similar Makes it much more fun to use
Went shopping for some little goodies yesterday and came back with 2/3 things I went to get:

-Shifter Knob
-Harness Pads

I didn't get a floor mat because they only came in sets of 4 and I only need one.

The Harness pads are really comfy, the seatbelt doesn't scratch my shoulders anymore and the shifter knob is brilliant fun in the TBO's.

I recommend both to anyone! More coming soon..

Looks really good (the shifter and harness pads). But I have to agree with Nathan, a splash of paint would do wonders And maybe, if you have some scrap (floor)carpet around, you could glue it to the inside

btw. your website doesn't work (atleast for me)
I thought they did do frex kits for the G25? All i know is that i have seen people with real aftermarket wheels on the G25's, hence the reason i thought frex kits were available.

Hmm, i will look up how to fit custom wheels and the price for you jack.

p.s loving the 2 little mods you have done so far. Im looking for a new shifter knob for my G25, what kind of modifications do you have to do to the shaft/knob, or do they fit straight on?

edit:

Bunch of shifter mods in here.

G25 Wheel mods:
You can add on your own wheels with the Frex kits for the DFP, but you have to drill some holes yourself, and maybe add a spacer.

You could also mod your pedals jack.
You get another plate of wood, and mount it at an angle in the place where your pedals are. You then take the pedals OUT of the casing, and then mount them onto the wood. The beauty with this is that you can place and adjust them as you please. This should improve your driving position alot as you can set it up how YOU like it.

Edit 2: i forgot another mod i could mention. HANDBRAAAAAKE!!!

Its very easy to do, infact, the hardest part is making the finished product look good.
All you need is some kind of gamepad with a analog stick, something to act as the handbrake shaft, and then something to mount it onto the stick correctly. You simply plug in the controller, and then go into LFS. Hopefully, it will recognise the controller. You then go into controls, and put the handbrake as the analog axi's. Then jobs a good un! If that fails, you could always use joy-to-key...

I would fetch a link for you jack, but i need to pop out for about half an hour.
I will get it for you when i get back if you have'nt already found one though mate.

Hope all of above has helped mate.
