But surely that wouldn't happen in a real race? I remember Schumacher one served his penalty on the final lap at Silverstone and won the race because of that but I think that caused some rule changes.

Any rule experts here?

My guess is that the pitlane is red on the final lap and outstanding stop and go and drive through penalties are converted to time penalties.

The problem was, that the leader was on his last lap, but he wasn't, therefore got a d/t instead of a time penalty, as he wasn't on the last lap.

So it's kinda a fault with lfs, as IRL, he would've got a time penalty.
