Because flaming and ranting at cruisers didn't work too well, apparently.
This hiding-cruise-servers thingy was a gift/relief to us racers, not a statement about wether cruising is supposed to be a part of LFS or not.
Why don't you all get a life, so this whole cruising-roleplay-nonsense is dispensable?
I hope you are not serious, as I can turn your sentence against you:
"Why don't you (all) get a life, so this whole racing-simulator is dispensable?"
Yes, of course I can do cruising in real life, but so can you do racing... Why to block something what can be simulated easily? Should LFS crash automatically when you have slided x seconds to prevent drifting..? It doesn't require ANY workhours from devs to allow cruising. I am against any kind of cruising/drifting features, for example chasing system or rims and spoilers (So I don't require more from devs than racers: Damage physics, brake heat, etc physical upgrades).
If you (And rest who thinks like you) want to prevent cruising, what do you want to do about it? Disable cruising-mode from servers? Ya, that would really work. Or not, as it would make things worse. Auto-kick if you drive in the wrong direction (Already in LFS, but do you want that the parameter is automatically on?)? It requires workhours from devs (Not much, but they would still need to code). And what is the point to be mean because of... Nothing. Does cruising hinder your racing? Does it hinder development speed? Does it take money from LFS dev's?
- No, it doesn't hinder you. Just put your cruise-filter off and you can only see racing servers (And drifting servers, and destruction derby servers, and bump & jump servers, and... But not cruising servers). On the other hand, those who would like to join cruising server puts filter on, and they won't join racing server...
- No, it doesn't hinder development speed. Okay, anyone can beg for any features, but it is up to dev's to include (Or not include) something. And also racers suggests stupid things (Let along drifters...). Also, lots of older players like cruising, so it is not just for kids (Even the average age is pretty low).
- No, it doesn't take money from LFS dev's. Some buys a license just to let them join cruising servers. Sold license is a sold license, even if the users does only cruising.
Wrong.
I can't do racing in real life, I can't afford a racecar, neither am I allowed to take part in race.
But, I socialize (is that the term?) and get in contact with others in the so called "real life" so there's no need for cruising nor roleplays.
Well, I can't afford a cruising with rear-engined RWD sports car, nor can I escape law enforcements (As I wouldn't be so stupid to break the laws). Or to be honest, I can't be police for numberous reasons.
So, if you do myth called "real life", how come you still play LFS with your internet-friends? Instead, shouldn't you do things with your real friends? And have you noticed that you are "roleplaying" racing situations while racing in LFS..? You should find the meaning for word "roleplay" before arguing about this.
Just prooved that your point was more or less paradox. Sure, I don't know anything about you, but do you know anything about me? Sure, you race in LFS, but have you ever tried cruising?
If no, you are arguing about something you don't know. It is totally undestandable if you have tried it and because of that experience you don't like it.
Same thing is that I hate to live in a white house (Never been there, either).
Even though i'm a member of a cruise team, the line has to be drawn somewhere. This is a racing simulator, and so its naive to expect any dedicated features to cruise servers.
A nice, well thought out idea, but certainly not fitting for LFS
