Quote :WELCOME TO THE GREEN HELL - GTR Evolution announced
‘GTR Evolution’ for PC from SimBin Delivers Horsepower-Heavy GT and WTCC Extreme Cars, plus Germany’s Notorious Nordschleife Circuit
SimBin Studios AB today announced the forthcoming release of GTR Evolution. Developed by the multiple award winning Swedish studio SimBin Development Team and published by SimBin Studios AB, GTR Evolution takes GT and WTCC Extreme cars to the Green Hell of Nordschleife, the holy grail of racing. Available as a stand alone game and also as an expansion pack for SimBin’s 2007 title RACE 07, GTR Evolution is scheduled for launch in 2008.
In addition to many other tracks, players of GTR Evolution will drive the modern version of the monumental track of Nürburgring Nordschleife along with the Nürburgring GP layout. Dubbed “The Green Hell” by racing legend Jackie Stewart, the track is revered and feared as the most difficult and treacherous track ever built.
“As the first PC game developer to get exclusive access to this track for reference, SimBin has been given a solid ground to work from and we hope that we will be able to give our fans a real hell, so to speak”, said Jay Ekkel with a smile, Producer at SimBin Development Team AB.
GTR Evolution for PC comes with 22 GT car models in 3 different classes plus a selection of exclusive production cars. Further to this SimBin adds WTCC Extreme, tuned concept cars based on the FIA WTCC cars.
“With rear wheel drive, extended body-kits and over 600hp the WTCC Extreme cars will give the GT cars a run for their money, said Diego Sartori, Creative Director at SimBin Studios AB.
GTR Evolution will be available as a stand alone game including all RACE 07 content, all in all 49 unique cars in 12 classes with over 500 variations and 19 tracks in over 40 different layouts including the new and legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. A GTR Evolution expansion pack for existing owners of RACE 07 will also be available.
“This is the biggest game ever from SimBin and a must have for all gamers and we hope that GTR Evolution will satisfy all race fans since it is packed with a broad variety of cars and new features that should attract the gamer that wants to have it all in one high quality game”, says Henrik Roos, CEO of the SimBin Group of companies.
Scheduled for launch in 2008, GTR Evolution is distributed by Atari in Europe, Viva Media in the US and Akella in Russia. The release is scheduled for 2008 with detailed info to follow.

I look forward to the rF conversion of the 'ring

I wonder what the "real car = better physics > fantasy cars = bad physics" people know thinks?

Nordschleife... well, that's nice for modders. But the latest versions of it for rFactor are already pretty good. But with big team and manpower shouldn't be hard to make it the best version ever.
its only an expanstion of Race07 so i guess the physics will be the same as Race07

AFAIK the rF versions are all still based on the GPL layout (which was presumably good guess work given the lack of topographical data for the 1967 'ring layout) with the recent changes put it in. The SimBin version should be able to take both layout accuracy and graphics to the next level.
My understanding is that the basic layout/elevation was taken from the GPL version although the actual track has been completely reworked so bears no visual resmblence. That version is also the first version to have the majority of the crests smoothed to as they are today. The RaceKing version seems quite different and less detailed in terms of the actual layout/elevation changes, that version might be done completely from scratch, I'm not sure.

I wonder if SimBin have been the reason behind why the rF version development has stopped. Maybe they're trying to use this version for this new expansion? Or maybe they're being threatening to the mod team which would explain this comment

I think, when you have a look at the entire legal and permission difficulties with the Ring - you can understand our decision.

Race '08? GTR 3? SCGT 2?

The rf 'ring might be interesting but other than that it is yet another incarnation of the EA's physics engine...

great timing, just as the Rf's version the track has stopped developing.

Not much expectation for the game itself, since Simbin has been selling out and dumbing down the games a lot in recent releases.
So will they use their shiny new Lizard engine now or are they postponing it's application again?
Since it'll include Race 07, the assumption is that it'll use that engine.

FTL
Postponing prolly, since it's officially an expansion pack.
well,

i was waiting for a new gtr

not that i wan the game , but i just want to see how it is now,

gtr 2 had some good points allready so, we will see,

Greets,

Did the other one of the two versions use ISI's Nurburgring part of the 24h config? I don't know how that would relate to SimBin. I hope SimBin didn't become another mod hunter like some dev group behind a famous Nascar series...

What's the NASCAR reference to?

I think the rF 'ring had a scratch built GP circuit on it. It certainly didn't look or feel as naff and silly as the ISI GP circuit which just felt awful and looked so cartoony.

Race driver: GRID please...
How could I forget

I don't know how far RSC's double standards go but so far they have been quite aggressive against converted ISI stuff... and the 'ring is allowed in RSC so I might mean... something
No Thanks!

you do realize that it has the same terrible "rotate car around the vertical axis going through its geometric center" physics? Watch the videos at gamersyde or gametrailers -- the cars don't look right. Same as DIRT.

EDIT:
Is Lizard engine supposed to get new physics or just a graphical facelift?
Physics as well, iirc.
