puncture details/sound
is there one already there, it seems silent when i get a puncture and i find out by checking tyre wear screen or by the handling, there is the sound of the car rubbing on the floor. but this guy in the game was saying "i think i broke my suspension under braking".

should there be a sound? would it be nice if there was a more forceful pop at high speed? discuss?

Never had a puncture either (IRL) but I guess the loudness would depend on the pressure in the tyre. My only experience close to that was seeing a mechanic pull the tyre off the rim, which made quite a loud pop. I guess it should be noticable from inside the car and not totally silent as it's now, but we all know things aren't finished yet so if it's hearable in reality we will surely get it in LFS sometime.
Maybe this is just about the LFS sounds which lack many "racing sounds", like brake squeeling, transmission sounds, suspension sounds...etc.

One thing in LFS is that the tires don't get torn and ripped looking when a tire blows. Maybe add some random "rubber flapping against the car parts" sounds. But I guess the sound when tire blows isn't audible at those speeds.

The sound when most of the tyre's carcass comes off and is banging against the inside of the wheel arch is loud enough to be heard at almost any speed I can imagine. Honest.

It's a pretty loud sound that should be audible in the current LFS cars (remember, we lack a lot of sounds yet and the motor is rather silent). I was so fortunate to witness the testing of tyre-endurance under low tyre pressure, and yes, the sound of a popping tyre is loud, even with big mashinery around. So it should be audible in LFS too.

But it's not a thing I really miss. It's not on my priorities-list.

It amused me to see you were going to get a refund on LFS, not play it, and not be part of the community, and here you are suggesting improvments. thats the thing about LFS - it's like a Herion addiction - you've gotta come back for more sooner or later.

Herion?

Well, I suppose that is some seriously good music they got playing there

ive been racing AI players and hotlapping offline, the game is still fun for me as far as racing goes, and its hard to pass like 8 AI players cleanly but its easy to get away from the pack once out in front.

i understand that there is still much to be added with sounds, i just wondered if anyone had mentioned this before or what people thought on it.

could you have it so the rims of the wheels grip more, or, if one tyre goes it jerks the wheel to the side it blew from so you get those spectacular blow outs where the car loses control instantly? maybe it works under load, so if the tyre is on a massive load and it pops at that moment it makes a bigger effect?

the whole tyre flapping in the wheel arch idea sounds good to me, could it be modelled to make the car sounds bang and make the cockpit "wobble" to make it feel like you got loose tyre in there?

is that getting too detailed to really matter?

pointless or could be good? or too hard to do?
Well, for one, the car should pull hard once you blow a tire. Many
times i had to change view or look at tire display to make sure.
Having a 'pop' sound is not very realistic as i've rarely heard a tire
go pop unless you overinflate it.
hmm first thing i did in s2 was a burnout till they were flat
Maybe some samples wouldn't do any harm to LFS. It's great to have the engine sound rendered at real time even if it lacks of detail, but I think some transmission, shaking, or even backfire samples would add a lot of "life" to LFS, at least while we get the full synthetised sound engine. IMHO
I've had tire blowouts while driving on the highway, one was the rear tire of my vehicle and the other time was on a trailer I was hauling. I didn't hear any kind of pop sound either time. But I did hear and feel rumbling, and then saw chunks of rubber flying in the air from my rear view mirror. The only time I've ever heard a pop was from a semi truck that was beside me, but I would imagine those things have a high tire pressure.
what do you think about tyres being blown from heavy impacts on the wall?

so you hit a wall and broke a bit of suspension. if you hit it a bit harder than that was at, a tyre is blown too?

it would make a hard impact on a wall have a bit of an affect on your car and would only happen rarely, i bet most of you guys never brake suspension anymore so it would be rare occurance.

edit: also it may suit the graphics a bit if the wheel is buckled from the impact? it looks odd sometimes when a car had a dented corner but the wheel is ok...
