I finally got back to having no life (read: Classes are quiet, and I'm STILL single).

I did this when I should have been in bed, asleep.

Video of the Round 3 restart after first safety car, through the 2nd deployment, and some replays. I did this mainly as practice for the rest of the race videos, and to help out in the LFSBC's voting for "Worst Fail." :-p

Please forgive my sucky commentary. I was speaking quietly as It's late, and I'll save the good stuff for the full race videos. :-D

Also, forgive any inaccurate names (should you be one of them that I bungle). I've done plenty of commentary before, and have my own Murrayisms, and Hobbsisms, etc.

But funny none the less - and nice overlays Really liked it - hope all are like this!

BTW, that car that Taha crashed into was Fred.

The F1 style overlay thingies were great... what did you use to edit it?

I know its a begginers league but i would have though atleast some common knowledge would have been implied, that crash was herendous.

But i like commentry makes it easier to understand when you have no idea who, who is

I practised 200 laps of that combo and I was very (ish) quick on it. I didn't realise that there was so little space to my right and I had raced cleanly in all the practices etc. up to that point. I ruined what probably would have been a good race

Kinda stupid if they crash, they reverse back to track when others are coming and crashing other racers then.

The voice is pretty funny itself, but watching those moves on track...man...hilarious.

MPEG Streamclip - convert mpg to dv
Final Cut Express - editing (mpgs don't import the audio to Final Cut, so that's why the conversion to DV)

So do you make the overlays in GIMP and import them into Final Cut Express? Do you just draw the overlay over a transparent alpha layer?

Yes, I build the boards in GIMP, save as .tga with alpha channel.

In Final Cut, I have to flicker filter them and render it.

The hardest part of the process is the capturing.

I don't trust InSim sorts of apps to do it - mainly because I'm a TV guy and am supposed to have an ego that everything else is worse than me.

So I just use Shift+U a whole hell of a lot !

It only took me about 40 minutes to do all the editing in Final Cut once I had everything converted. Took about 30 minutes to do all that conversion. Batch lists FTW !

It looked (IMO) a bit like Kab's XFG skin, so I thought it was him!

The silver car with blue stripes turned around for no reason and took out that back marker after they made a mistake and spun, he should be heavily penalized. Even in a beginner cup everyone should know racing edict, the only thing that should be different is their speed.

That was Joe. We did give him a bad penalty (can't remember what it was) for the next round, but he didn't show up

It wasn't immensely harsh as he did own up to it, rather than bickering on about how he was right........

Can we kinda avoid throwing the spontaneously combusted bananas at me because we've dealt with that major fail, and I didn't want the blaming & flaming coming back, because I've apologised to the people who I crashed into and I don't usually fail that badly.

Can't we just have a light hearted laugh at how much I failed?

And Btw Jack, I never remember even getting a penalty - If I did nobody told me

Yep - you were bloody lucky to get a 1 point penalty - i.e like dropping a place.

Just looked at the judgement on this incident. Looks like it was deemed a 'racing incident' (the initial contact) and both of you got a 1pt penalty for rejoining into traffic.

EDIT: No Discussion on this incident here please. It has been dealt with.

It was UF-BR + XF-JR (43% restriction), so not that fast. But the speed of the cars didn't really have anything to do with the accident

18 people started, 5 DNFs, 2 Discos.

Sam got beached on his own on Lap 1.
I rolled by myself on lap 2.
Mutt got beached trying to get Sam out of being beached on lap 2
Mr.T was the only victim of that nasty crash on Lap 4
Stafan Rolled it (as you saw on video) on Lap 4.

Then that's it

I like the graphics of the video. Almost like the F1 graphics on TV.
It would be nice, if a programm exist with this graphics for LFS.

All in all, it's a nice vid.

If I would have known that I wouldn't have said anything but that isn't acceptable... I'm sure however that it was just a spur of the moment thing, I've done something similar before as well.

Yes It was just a spur of the moment thing. I was in such a panic because I crashed and everything that I didn't really think for a moment before reversing onto the racing line

One time I was leading a race on FE Green Rev in the FOX. About 5 laps in I had a 2 second lead but spun in the first complex of corners... I thought I was in the racing line so I backed up and when I did, here came a freight train... Turns out I was backing up into the racing line lol. It happens...
