Wow, such universal awe across the board for a game I've never played All the kids at the internet cafe I used to go to were fanatical about Mafia, but I'd just slink off into a corner and fire up Freelancer. Perhaps I should have joined the mob
On topic, I sure hope that bloom will have turn on/off option.
Otherwise looks like it will be a nice game, but things can go very bad between now and mid 2009
Small amount of bloom would really liven up scenery I think, but for that it should have slider so that it would be possible to set 0.03% from current value
wow better damage moddeling then Burnout Paradise, so that means cars would crumple very hard en the person inside has to be crushed with allot of blood in and around the car or he should be thrown out the car :P :O
Yeah. Nowadays it's PS2-level textures + bloom = OMG it's so Next-Gen™. With this way of development, we'll never get even close to "photorealistic" graphics.
Where did realistic, sharp, natural looking graphics go? Everyone who thinks bloom is great, could you honestly imagine similar kind of effect to photos or movies*?
* there are some examples already... and it has been used lots of late 90's tv series.
Well, bloom looks silly in some racing games, but here it actually looks OK, imo.. It'd be nice if it could be adjustable though, i would turn it down a bit...
And graphics are great for this kind of game (IF, those are ingame graphics), much, MUCH better than the new GTA IV..
It looks fine if one has forgot his strong glasses at home, got sand to his eyes and just emerged from dark caves underground after being there for 30 years, then perhaps world would look such as it looks in those pics.
Example of IRL
There is one very shiny car in bright sunlight, notice sand at background it is not glowing and defineatly not burning white or anything like that.
It would not be for human eye either and also there would be less glimmering bright spots in car for human eye than there is for camera.
Also notice how image is not completely blurred, there are actually sharp shapes there.
But of course if today it is more important to look nice than real, maybe that is way to go, however I'm capable of voting with my money what I want from game and radioactive glow and blur is not that
Best way to get bloom in real life is to swim underwater a lot with your eyes open for an hour, at your local public swimming pool. It works, believe me!
