Recently there have been several members expressing strong political views in the off topic forum, some might count as spam but nothing really offensive. Some of these people have no started to have politically motivated signatures and avatars. Personally I find that these issues are getting spilled into forums/threads where political discussion is not relevant and it just gets distracting and annoying and those posting in such threads immediately gain support or opposition regardless of what they say or do that is actually relevant.

Lots of forums ban political signatures and avatars but allow relatively free OT threads. I'm not suggesting that the content of threads is censored in anyway just that we don't end up having to trawl through propaganda and the contents of the OT threads if we want to have avatars and signatures enabled.

I don't know how other forum members would feel about this?

Probably a good idea, that way people will concentrate on the content of someone's post and not get upset by a sig. I've not seen a great deal of potentially offensive sigs myself, but that's not to say they're not out there.
