Ok thanks, Another question What would happen if it copied itself to my alternate drive before i formatted? would it still be active? and what if i then unplugged that drive?
Thanks in advance
Depending on the nature of the keylogger (i.e. if it is self-replicating, or similar), then you would have to format the alternate drive, too - as it would likely replicate itself onto the newly formatted drive at first opportunity.
Most virus software and/or spyware software should pick up any keylogging applications/scripts, anyway. A quick scan with either/both of these types of software should clear it out, without the need for a reformat.
Yeah, generally speaking, keylogger virus' are pretty easy to get rid of. Even Sbybot, Adaware, and some registry scanning should be able to shake loose any keylogger virus, unless it's currently active and very interconnected with running processes. In that case just boot in safe mode, with bare nessesities, before you scan.
