Until you get to a corner. Or a braking point. Or a place where any modicum of style is needed. Then a Lada would beat the Corvette, let alone a Ferrari.
Corvette, indeed America, will never produce a sports car for as long as it takes them to invent corners.
What more would you expect from a car with leaf spring(s).
I remember Top Gear testing the new Mustang. The test drive route Hammond had planned was all straightaway, but he was worried at the last section: there was one corner.
American cars and corners don't mix, pure and simple, then again, they have little need to in their native lands.
That said, TG recently waxed lyrical about the "new" 'Vette, even so, American cars are normally as technologically refined as a barn door, something which I think could becoming a thing of the past though as more and more "yank tanks" are produced with, shock horror, rear independent suspension .
The Z06 already can beat a ferrari F430. Try turning off the ferraris stability control and then they will be fairly evenly matched. Face it, the corvette kicks euro ass!
