Windows Movie Maker Help
Hi Guys

Basically, I'm trying to make a movie atm.

Everything was going really well, I've put in all of my titles, the music, and the first 2 video clips in the right places, and two more waiting to be positioned. Now, when trying to view my movie in the little preview box in WMM, it freezes at a certain point every time. The music still plays, and the timeline keeps going at the bottom, but the movie freezes. Whenever I press either stop or pause, I get the error 'Not enough storage is available to process this command'.

I've tried the following:
  • Restarting PC (x2)
  • Closing all other applications
  • Checking my hard drive space (just over 50% full)
  • Starting afresh with the movie (same problem)
  • Moving various clips and things around
  • Looking on microsoft official site
  • Looked on various forums
None of which have solved it/provided an answer

Just wondering if any of you have had these problems or managed to solve them?

BTW, I'm a complete noob when it comes to computer's inner workings, so please explain in noob english

Thanks

J@tko

btw, some info on my wmm attached.

Sounds like you ran out of RAM or something. Did you record your footage at full resolution or half resolution? If it was full, you will be using up a lot of RAM trying to render all these.

A possible solution is to take each piece of footage one by one and make them smaller by exporting them in WMM and then starting the movie making process again. This could be the solution. Tell me if it works!
I recorded the footage... full size (1280*800). The original file sizes before compression were in 700-900MB region
Okay, so they were compressed before usage? How big in terms of res were they? And size as well, how big were they in mb?
Quote from Mp3 Astra :Okay, so they were compressed before usage? How big in terms of res were they? And size as well, how big were they in mb?

They were compressed into MPEG 2, for sending over MSN (), and then converted to MPEG 1 because his WMM didn't work with MPEG 2. The file sizes are around 5-10MB, the resolution is 720x576.
That's still big - but it should be managable. My only other suggestion is in my first post, convert them to WMV one by one and start again, or buy some more RAM.

OK, this is a quick post as I've g2g

U might be correct about the RAM as my computer is pretty rubbish - ill post specs tomorrow.

Thanks for your help mp3astra, I'll give it a go tomorrow night, when I've read everything properly
The issue with WMM is that it is VERY touchy with a lot of codecs. I'm fairly confident that that is what your problem with. Many people live with it by saving every 10 seconds as it freezes every few minutes - others just do what I did and use something else. There are some freeware movie-maker style programs online (there's an open source one called Jahshaka - but I don't know if it's any good.) I had a horrible experience with WMM just a few weeks ago (also posted here) and in the end I discovered another video making program on my PC that had come with my sound card and was actually better.
had the same problem
i had the same problem, except i could only view my vids that were imported and not the timeline, (only sound played from timeline) this was about 2 years ago and just checked it's still happening

i used to make hundreds of movies with my mates for youtube and also edit karting movies + lfs movies, but stopped immediatley as i found this problem. it really is a bummer. i have no idea how to fix it, except now for the last 2 years i've moved onto Adobe Premiere pro 2 and could not stand going back.

you're not alone! there are probably others with this problem too. i even tried downloading a newer MM but it didnt work, however there are some other good video editing programs you can get for free legally that use keyframes (really cool things that help with effects, timing, positions, everything) that will be great for lfs. i read about one in a pc mag ages ago, it came on the cover disk i'll try and find the name of it for you and a good download place. but not now im pushed for time.

i know how you feel!
My PC specs are attached (Yes - I know it's pretty bad - and I'm not getting a new one at least till I get to uni )

I'll definitaly try the exporting one, as that seems like a good solution. I tried converting them to wmv first, but the quality was really really bad

I'll have a go later tonight and see

I *need* help with Adobe Premiere Elements 3.

Whenever I import HQ LFS footage into it, the exported result is all motion-blurry. Is this a problem or is it me having the wrong export settings?

Anyone else experienced this before?
I also want to know how to 'ungrey' the options circle in red

Does anyone have any ideas?
My issues really are rather urgent. I can't send a motion blurry video with a messed up aspect ratio to Sim Racing Tonight
