I just think it comes down to people hearing things and taking them as fact right away, instead of actualy looking into it. If I hear something, I do ALOT of research before I take it as fact.
I spent almost a year researching engine braking, and what causes it. I did this because my motorbike nearly tossed me off when I snapped the throttle closed in 1st gear. I wanted to know why and how. I found out why and how, but alot of people have missconceptions about it and won't listen to anything else.
I heel-toe when I use a 3 pedal setup, I even do the motorbike equivelent when I race/trail ride. If I don't do it on my bike, my lower gears will kill me. my 3rd gear is probably as low as your car's 2nd or even 1st. I have a low speed close ratio box, so I have to make sure that I don't get under-rotation of the rear wheel when downshifting.
