Ventrilo or Teamspeak.
Ventrilo or teamspeak?

Which is the most popular? I've just got Ventrilo working and I'm looking at the FM server, problem is they all speak German. Which isn't a problem for them, but I can't understand a dickybird.

Is teamspeak more popular on LFS servers? Are there any ventrilo using servers in the UK?

Any voice comm guru out there with any wise words on the matter?

Our team uses Teamspeak, but I haven't personally tried Ventrillo. Our team's "communications guru" did the testing on both Teamspeak and Ventrillo and he absolutely hands-down asserted that we'd be using Teamspeak.

We've certainly no complaints about Teamspeak since we put it on our fat pipe. We originally ran it from the guru's home broadband connection, and it did stutter with 4 or more people talking at once. Since it went on the pipe, I've never heard it barf once. It's 100% ideal for our guys, not just while gaming either. Many of us are in there 24/7. It's like being back in the 6th form common room.. the centre of our universe.
I'd say TS is the way to go. Ventrilo was "in" for a period of time, but TS is pretty customizeable and has pretty good soundquality / bandwidth ratio. so u cant really go wrong no matter what quality u decide on using.
Ventrillo is far more clear than teamspeak, I use both (Teamspeak for Battlefield 2 and Ventrillo for FLS) and personally find ventrillo far superior!

The FM server, they don't speak German all the time, and when the english members are on the server, we actually tell them off for speaking German, it's the only way they'll learn English!!!!!

So, ventrilo has definately the better sound quality. I'm very sorry, that there was, when you joined the server, only german speaking. When i began playing on our server it was common that we only speak english in the lobby. But more and more germans came in to our ventrilo and so the language changes very often into german.
With your post you remind us that we should hold the lobby in english!

I'm not worried that you speak German. It is after all your language. I love to listen to other languages trying to see if I can comprehend anything.

I am just looking around to see which is more popular and which would suit my needs better . . . The quality on Ventrilo as far as I can tell is really rather good. As yet I have yet to try Teamspeak.

I am sure that if I made my presence felt that people would have come forward and spoke english. It's a sad state of affairs that I cannot speak German with any fluency, even after doing a bit at school. A long time ago that was though. I shall keep looking and testing stuff out . . . .
let's have a poll.
Really!?! How do they taste? Better than Germans?
err ...
Pol. Polish. Play on words. Humour. English variety. Do the Polish taste better then the Germans . . . .

*Sigh*
