Hard Drive no more capacity when there should be more.
Hi there,

I am having a problem with my hard drive, it is one hard drive partioned into 2 so one part is just for windows and programs and the other is for my documents but as I have done a few full system restores the data I have had on the my documents part before each system restore has just built up it wont let me have access to the files to delete the data so I am stuck with not a lot of memory left, I can't even find the files what had all the old data stored.
Here is a screenshot of the amount of memory it says I have used: -->http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/2794/datadriveyd0.jpg

A screenshot of the amount of files I have in the partion:

I have used CCleaner to delete all temp files and that, defraged the drives to free up space but no good, the my documents partion only has 6.72GB of data in so I should have about 100GB left but it dont.

So if I only have the amount of data why is it saying I have more in it how can I get rid of all those old files because it is a bit annoying that I can't use the full Hard Drive Space.

Here is a screenshot of the HDD part just incase someone says that is using it all:

You probably need to repartition your drives, as something has gone a bit funny.

I've used Partition Magic (ages ago) and it seemed quite good at repartitioning without losing data. Except the one time I lost all my photos, music, videos etc (and didn't have a backup because it would have needed about 100 DVDs).
1) Use XP inbuild DiskCleanup to erase all restore points except the very recent one. Or alternatively switch off System Restore completely if you don't need it. Then enjoy recovered free space
2) FYI: Defragmentation won't give you any extra bits of free space.

Download WinDirStat, run it for your hard drives and post the resultant screenshot.

I have used the inbuild cleanup and turned off system restores.

I don't have access to the files what are taking up about 80GB though, I can't repartion the hard drive because I don't have a external hard drive to back up my old files on, also would it be ok to repartion them as my PC already came with a partioned hard drive.
