Another thought about mirrors
I have read as many threads as I could reasonably find. Many people seem to have problems / wishes regarding mirrors, especially the side mirrors. Many have asked for more realism, 3 separate views etc., all of which would need more processing etc. They might be great ideas, but this post is not about them.

In sedans, the far side mirror is somewhat useless, unless you have a wide FOV (then things can get rather small).
When using virtual mirrors, you can reposition the rear view mirror, so why not just allow to also reposition the side mirrors. Keep the same single view and detail level, but allow you to drag the far mirror into the car and your FOV.

I know it's not realistic, but neither is having to turn your head to see the mirror (at least to detect movement).

Love the racing and thanks to the developers for their ongoing support.

Because IIRC you have to turn your head in real life to see that mirror.
Actually eye movement is sufficient, but movement still.

Not a bad idea but, the image in the wing mirror is the same as in the rear view one so there really is no need for it.

If they make the wing mirror image true to life then this option would be usefull.

My eyes must be playing tricks on me, because I could have sworn that while all mirrors show a view from the same point, they each show a different sector of the same whole view. Maybe that's a wishful thinking delusion that my mind has inserted
In my opinion reality is simulated well as it is now (you have to press a look button). If you look into your far side mirror irl, you have to move your eyes and are not able to focus what happens on the track ahead even though you see something there from the corner of your eye.
Side mirrors are both showing a slice of the rear view mirror image.
And the rear mirror actually shows a wider view than the side mirrors.

The side mirrors should show what is out of view of the rear mirror. Instead, the don't even show as wide of a view as the rear. The red is approximately where the side mirror cuts off.
If you had your side mirrors adjusted like that in real life, you would see 75% of your car in them. lol

amen

maybe they should come out with a wheel with Rear view attatchments.

Each with their own ATIVIDA Geforce X287028 1/2 xD
(which doesnt exist outside the confines of my secluded mind)

or at least little analog sticks so you can move the mirror angles. =)

but thats wishful thinking..

o.o i know!!!!

Taco delivery to your car should be in LFS.

Drive in's! With the entire skating girl who brings you a tray you hook onto your door and everything... then driving away with it still attached so food flys onto peoples windshields behind you!!!

=)

Meh.. just add an actual RAMP to the track editor and i'll be happy... or.... o.o even better add little 3d dirt clumps so you can make you're own dirt/rally thing

=) I would make individual threads but i'd figure that would annoy you

What's wrong with the present one?

I dissagree that its good enough now. Like you said in real life you can glance at the mirror but still have the road ahead in your peripheral vision. But using the button look function in LFS you loose all visibility of the road ahead giving you a distinct disadvantage when checking your mirrors. To be realistic LFS should only require you to move your eyes to the mirror to check it and still be able to perceive movement of the cars ahead.

Buy an additional monitor and you won't have to.
(Yes, there was some sarcasm included)
